Barbara's
Daily BuzzFlash Minute |
|||||
A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). We'll collect a week's worth here and then archive them. Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. December 12, 2003 The saying "lead by example" has never been truer than now. Bush is punishing France, Germany, Russia, and Canada by not allowing them to bid on reconstruction contracts because these countries did not back his invasion of Iraq. Following their moronic leader, ABC is exacting revenge on Dennis Kucinich by pulling its reporters from his campaign because Kucinich criticized ABC's -- and mainstream media's -- attempts to make the debates a tabloid debacle. Instead of highlighting the issues that affect the American people, ABC cheapened the political discourse of the debate and continues to do so in its actions against Kucinich. * * * Whenever there is legitimate criticism, mainstream media wagons begin to circle. When Ted Koppel made a real ass out of himself conducting the Democratic Debate and Dennis Kucinich called him on it, the rest of the so-called journalists came out in force to debase the Democrats. How much better the public would be served if, with the same stinging enthusiasm, they would go after the devastating policies of the current administration and their moron Bush! * * * December 11, 2003 And you thought the war in Iraq was an effort in morals and high ideals to protect the world from terrorism. Ahem, you must remember this is George Bush waging war, and anything he does usually means taking from the poor to giving to the rich, and everyone in between can go to hell. Bush is in Iraq to increase the profits for his friends and family. What a way to turn a buck -- blow a country up, make the American sucker taxpayers pay for the reconstruction, and then tell any country who may hold you accountable for your actions that they're not eligible to assist in that reconstruction. * * * Wow, Dennis Kucinich was great in the New Hampshire debate -- he managed to diplomatically tell mainstream media they stink with a capital S. He referenced the media highlighting polls and endorsements rather than substantive issues that affect the public's well being. But then, mainstream media is all about protecting the image of George Bush , which they've so carefully designed. They are not interested in protecting the people or fulfilling their obligation to the public. * * * December 10, 2003 Brother, can you spare a dime? Looks like the Radical Repugs are reduced to panhandling these days. Their sign reads, "will lie, cheat, and steal to get Reagan's mug on a coin." Nancy doesn't like the idea of her husband reduced to a thin dime and Ronnie isn't dead yet (usually a requirement for having one's name affixed to anything), but the Repugs seem intent on proceeding with the idea. Since George has arrived on the scene, Bush lovers seems so desperate for something to improve their image that they're putting all their efforts into the visage of some poor guy stricken with an unbearable illness, even though, as a president, he was nothing more than just another Repuglican who left a lot to be desired. * * * December 9, 2003 Memo to Floridians: If you don't want a repeat of what the Repuglican party did to you in 2000, then you must demand a paper trail for touch screen voting machines. This is your state, this is your vote, and you must protect it. * * * They've done it again -- Dumbya comes out with some grandiose proposal ratcheting up a return to the moon, which sounds good, but hold on, his buddies in Congress have skimmed NASA's budget redirecting the funds for pork-barrel spending! On the surface it looks like you can't blame George, after all he is proposing an endeavor to rally people around the flag on the moon. But, before you start blaming Congress, consider for a moment that the Repuglican lemmings don't do squat without an O.K. from Karl. So, you see they think they have a good thing going by making Dumbya look good, and then don't provide the funding -- that's what this administration has been all about since the get go! * * * December 8, 2003 I've been pondering a quote from Barbara Bush: "...don't criticize my children and don't criticize my daughters-in-law and don't criticize my husband, or you're dead." I can't help but think about the over 400 young men and women who were sent to Iraq who are now dead! I can't help but think about those young men and women who have suffered the worst fate of war, in a war begun on lies and fear. I just wonder how their mothers feel? * * * How many Repuglicans got a deferment of some kind or another during Viet Nam? Dick Cheney was off hunting birds in the wilds of the USA and George Bush was AWOL and nobody seems to know where he was. Chris Mathews would do well not to approach a subject of which most of today's Repugs would be guilty. For that matter, where was Chris Mathews? At least Howard Dean is up front and honest about his deferment and isn't trying to hide the fact he was here at home skiing the slopes! * * * A new study by the American Heart Association may explain why the moron is so stupid! This new study shows alcohol shrinks the brain. Now we all know Dumbya has admitted to drinking as a younger man right into his 40's, and we all suspect there may have been some downright alcohol abuse, so what does this new study tell us about his brain power -- it has been reduced! This may be alright for someone who had sufficient brain cells to start with, but for someone with a questionable, lower than average IQ from the beginning, I'd say that's close to disastrous. * * * | |||||
