ABOUT

A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). We'll collect a week's worth here and then archive them. Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons.

CNN has come up with the most bizarre bunch of horse crap I've ever heard! They are now attempting to tell us that it's really OK that 401ks have gone south because seniors really don't want to retire after all. They are saying a majority of senior citizens in the US want to continue to work even though they've reached their golden years and the work place prefers hiring senior citizens because they are more dependable and have all that experience. Give me a break! That's the biggest crock of bull to date for CNN. I want to retire as soon as I'm eligible and I don't need CNN to feed me this horse malarkey.

Alice slid down the rabbit hole and through the looking glass -- Dumbya "flew" a jet onto an aircraft carrier. The American people have been taken into the crazy world of a fairy tale. Thanks to mainstream media, reality is not what we are seeing. It's the same old doublespeak we've been hearing since we were first told Bush won the election! The AWOL National Guardsman fighter pilot tells us combat is over. The most depressing part of this scenario is that he actually believes what he is saying.

Remember the phrase -- you know the one repeated over and over again -- "We had no warnings of 9-11"! Remember the words, "I will tell the truth"! Dumbya is WRONG on both accounts. This administration is classifying the reports on 9-11 as Top Secret -- not for national security, but for Dumbya's security. They don't want American citizens to know the truth. They don't want the boy wondering exposed. They don't want you to know a liar is perched in the White House. If they succeed in keeping these reports secret, then we know they are definitely hiding their inability to protect the American people, that all those so-called conspiracy theories are the truth, and that they cannot be trusted with the fate of this country.

As I listen to all -- and I mean all -- the right wingnut whackos condemning the United Nations, I wonder where these people come from. The United Nations was established to promote peaceful resolutions to dilemmas between nations, eliminating the need for the death and destruction of war. The premise was to avoid armed conflict, by using mature and sane diplomatic resolution, and to avert the possibility of any one nation dominating all others. The goal for the United Nations has not changed. However, some in the United States would like it to change to their version of democracy by military force.

The best example for why we don't want conservative ideologues appointed to the courts is the Supreme Court of the United States. The decision by these biased and bigoted pillars of the law, who were appointed by Dumbya's father and friends, are the cause of the suffering this country endures under the reign of Bush. Democracy was thwarted by those who are supposed to uphold the Constitution and the laws of the land. They took our rights from us and negated the democratic vote by appointing a spoiled brat who has not the intelligence nor the experience to do the job. We are now living with the dangerous consequences of their decision.

Santorum's comments were a reflection of that which is on his mind, literally! His dreams and fantasies came up and out in a moment of unguarded candor.

Ever heard that expression "smiling at your face while sticking a knife in your back"? Welcome to the Bush version of American Democracy! Americans better wake up, because this down home, go out and have a beer with kind of guy and his cohorts are taking us all back to early 1900, to a time when big business could work your ass off and not pay you for your efforts. Eliminating overtime pay is on the Repuglican agenda, and if they have their way it will soon be the law of the land. Just think, we are returning to the time of owing your soul to the Bush company store! Next thing you know, they will eliminate child labor laws -- after all, get 'em busy while they're young, keep 'em out of trouble; work 'em hard and work 'em long; teach them a trade and do 'em a favor. That's the Repuglican philosophy.

It seems that with their new found freedom, the Iraqi people are exercising their rights, with chants and signs, to say, "AMERICA GO HOME." Ah, Democracy, how wonderful it is -- free speech, the right to dissent, protesting in the streets! How long before Bush shows those Iraqis just what life in America is all about and what his version of democracy really encompasses -- protest zones, "better watch what they say," arrest without legal representation, military tribunals, state controlled mainstream media, and America's Minister of Information, Ari, providing propaganda for the masses. It doesn't sound much different than what the Iraqis been living under for 30 years.

We may all have to move to Iraq to find that wonderful freedom promised by Bush, because he is certainly eroding all semblance of Democracy here at home. He and his army of Repuglican conservatives have been busy with covert operations, like eliminating overtime pay, cutting Veterans benefits, destroying the environment, and leaving legions of children behind. Intelligence sources tell us the forces are quietly chipping away at Medicare and Social Security -- Code Name "Reform" -- and soon these benefits will just be a matter of history. America will be financially wiped out, the poor will be poorer, the rich richer, and Ari Fleischer will make the announcement to the American people that IT'S OVER!

Now, why would this administration want a man with questionable credentials in charge in Iraq? Ahmad Chalabi is man who has been accused and convicted in absentia of embezzling millions of dollars from working people! Could it be, is it possible, his resume' reads the same as the Bushies? Does it help to have a man in place who knows how to bilk the population and redirect the funds? My God, people, you don't even have to read between the lines on this one. Supporting Ahmad Chalabi's position in Iraq tells us what this administration has in mind -- furthering their personal wealth and riches beyond imagination!

I must give a thumb's up to Janeane Garofalo -- not only because she mentioned BuzzFlash in an interview, but because she is so well informed and so very passionate in her opinions. She can put into words what so many of us are feeling and is so very good at it. Thank you, Janeane, for having the courage to stand up and tell the truth.

This administration picks on the vulnerable so they can easily claim victory! Right here at home, Dumbya has declared war on THE WORKING POOR. Bush has set his sites on poor people in America who receive an earned income tax credit. You know, those families with kids, who earn less than a living wage. Easier for him to fight them and win, than to go after the big corporations who cheat the government out of tax dollars. Of course, this gives Bush a chance to prance around making victorious proclamations, when in actuality he has run helter skelter over people who cannot fight back!
