A collection
of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of
the
day (with the exception of the weekend). We'll collect a week's worth
here and then archive them. Come visit each weekday to see what's
pushing
Barbara's buttons.

To
all those young people who believe
in the Bush proposal to invest a
percentage of their SS payroll taxes
in the stock market [much like a
401(k) plan], know that Bush has
used Enron as a model
for running the government and he
has managed to spend more
than the country makes, which benefits
only his cronies. In the true spirit
of Enron, will he walk away with
millions and tell
Americans that we're bankrupt?
Ask some former Enron employees how
they feel about
Ken
Lay
before you trust a
moron with your life savings!

It
would really be interesting
to see where all the "loot" from
the Iraqi museum ends up!
I wonder who was aware of
the priceless
treasures, where the
glass cutters came from, and
who really stands to profit?
Were the "arm
chair" generals correct
in their assumption that
there weren't enough "boots
on the ground"?
Maybe the Bush administration
intended it that way, then
all
the
travesties
could be justified.

Osama
must be crowing! Bush has managed
to create a new breeding ground --
larger and more modern -- for the
Taliban and
Al Qaeda to grow. Terrorists will
no longer have to hide in caves,
they can check into hotels in Baghdad.
Once they infiltrate and gain control,
with a democratic vote, they won't
have to depend on opium for funding
-- not with all that oil!

Even
in controlled audiences, there
is less and less applause for Bush's
speeches. People all over America
are beginning to realize the
man is a twit, a snake oil salesman.
The phrase, "You can't fool
all the people
all the
time," finally seems to be
taking hold. As more and more Americans
become unemployed, go hungry, and
watch their tax dollars
go to cover wars (where no WMDs
have been found), the applause
will
fade
out completely. Like father, like
son -- the economy is going bust,
time for a regime change.

Anyone
else notice the resemblance
between Mohammed Saeed al-Shahhaf
aka "Baghdad
Bob" and Ari Fleischer?
They both have a tendency
to report the news as their
boss
dictates, sometimes factual,
more often bull! Both these
guys have mastered the art
of spin,
and the truth is the last
thing they want to convey.
As I listen
to the commentary by the
right wing dittos regarding
al-Shahhaf,
I think one would only have
to exchange names and it
could be
a description of Fleischer!

Conservative
advocates of treating children as
adults in American
courts undoubtedly will think
it okay that America is "detaining" children
under the age of 16 at Camp
X-ray in Guantanamo Bay. This,
frankly, is
terrible news. As an American
citizen,
I am appalled that the same
administration who condemned
Saddam for arresting
children, actually "detains" children
in enemy combatant camps. It
is shameful that America would
be guilty of the same immoral
action.

Armageddon?
Hmmm, anyone notice how much a faux
cowboy is beginning to resemble the
description of the "Anti-Christ"?
What some perceive as a savior, others
see as an emissary of the devil. "He
who lives by the sword, dies by the
sword" comes to mind, while "Do
unto others as you would have them
do unto you" seems to have been
forgotten in these days of pre-emptive
war. If one is to assume God's blessings,
then one must act accordingly.

Neither
Osama "Dead or Alive" bin
Laden nor Saddam "WMD" Hussein
have been caught -- so much for
the Repugs being better
at
protecting America.

The
Repuglican party is responsible for
new
McCarthyism and the awful Patriot
Act I, and
now they're
trying to shove Patriot Act II down
our throats. Ever wonder
why those who scream
and carp the loudest about being
patriotic are the very ones doing
everything they can to undermine
civil rights and civil liberties?
If the truth comes to light, these
people will be run out of town on
a rail.
They had to steal the office of the
presidency in order to impose their
form of terror.

The
ability to win victoriously in
a war with Iraq has never been
in doubt.
What to do in the aftermath has
always been the overwhelming consideration
of men wiser than Bush. As we
watch the biased reports from mainstream
media, even the dullest among
us
realizes "the cakewalk" is
over and the war has just begun.
I wonder how in the world anyone
can expect Dumbya to manage the
complexities in Iraq, when he can't
even manage
the problems here at home. It will
take someone with more brainpower
than that demonstrated by the current
administration to see us through
this dismal state of affairs.

How
long can America afford Bush?
The deficits are growing
larger with each passing day, the
unemployment lines are growing,
and that dreaded
word recession is creeping into
conversation. If allowed to continue,
Dumbya
is
capable of causing a depression
that will make the 1930s look like
boom
times. As each section of society
is affected, we find ourselves
in a downward
spiral unequaled in the history
of our country. Even Poppy does not
have enough money to buy Dumbya
out
of this
mess he's made. We, the
people
of America, are now suffering Dumbya's
frivolous fancy. |
