ABOUT

A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). We'll collect a week's worth here and then archive them. Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons.

April 18, 2003

As each segment of society is affected by the failed policies of the Bush regime, those people begin to realize that the man and his administration do not know how to govern. The working class in America are being sliced and diced by Bush and the Repuglican party. Ask anyone who lost their savings at Enron, the aircraft industry workers in Wichita, the Veterans, the millions of uninsured for healthcare, the children in schools that need repair -- this list could go on and on. The point is that it's the American people who are the losers when a Bush regime and the Repuglican party command and control the country.

As I watch Dumbya prance around claiming victory, all that comes to mind are pictures of the maimed and dead -- innocent Iraqi children and adults, and American military boys just barely old enough to shave. I am disgusted that death and dying are treated by this administration with a "stuff happens" attitude. I am sick when I hear conservative commentators speak of Iraq by saying, "We own it." I had hoped the Twenty First Century would bring us to a saner, wiser era, where killing and maiming are not an acceptable solution when leaders disagree.

I have come to the conclusion that there are a number of Americans who believe that appearances are all important. As long as it looks and sounds good, then it isn't necessary to face reality. This allows them time to think only of themselves. It is a constant state of denial. These same people will carp the loudest when they finally wake up and discover the real world has been legally looted by the current regime. However, there will be no admission of having aided and/or abetted the plunder through their cheering or by their omission, nor will they will feel guilt in complicity. These same people will blame the whole mess on Bill Clinton, rather than admit the chaos and confusion was a result of their selfishness. They are more familiarly known as the compassionate conservative Repuglicans.

Do you think that the lack of Democratic opposition to Bush is because the Democrats know the fix is in and America will have to suffer another four years of Dummy? Has this regime been able to manipulate the 2004 election before it even occurs? Remember the rumors that Clinton was approached with a deal for the first of the Bushies? With touch screen voting -- produced by Repuglican donors -- and no paper trail, or any way to verify results, have the Bushies guaranteed 2004?

Some comments about Bush that really sum it up: "He fails to put the money where his mouth is," "he talks the talk, but does not walk the walk," "he speaks from both sides of his mouth," and "he tells the truth as HE SEES IT!" We have a man who makes elaborate promises of support, but most certainly does not provide the funds for support. He praises the bravery of the troops in Iraq knowing there's safety for him in a bunker underneath the White House. Remember, this is the same man who said "we didn't have any warnings" when referring to 9-11! He also publicly said war was the last resort, while privately he was saying, "F--k Saddam, we're gonna take him out!" Honesty? Integrity? NO!

* * *

Do it to others, before they can do it to you -- a new concept created by the Bush Regime! So much for "hugging your neighbor" or "lending a helping hand." Interpretation is indeed in the eye of the beholder, and if the beholder is a shallow man seeking revenge and fortune, then God help the whole world.

April 15, 2003

It may surprise some here in America, namely the Bush administration, that when Bush cancels a visit to certain countries, it becomes a badge of honor. Frankly, I wouldn't want dinner or a beer with this arrogant faux cowboy who thinks himself president. His approach to life is the most hypocritical pile of bull ever to arrive on the scene. A majority of the people in this world are aware that he is a malicious malcontent determined to destroy all who dare to oppose him.

WAR is the newest reality TV show. In the spirit of Joe Millionaire, 24-hour cable news, in collaboration with the Bush administration, brings their version of "War in Iraq" to a television channel near you. From the "overwhelming" crowd of 200 people impressively tearing down that statue of Saddam, to the "in-bedded" reporters, viewers are getting a front row seat to plenty of scripted reality action. Most importantly, the producers of this programming will be sure to maintain a "theme" of "Liberating the Iraqi People" and avoid mention of conquering, oil, dismemberment, or dead people, since some viewers might find it distasteful.

Bush's "Manual for Dummies" on how to stay "out of harm's way": Invitation-only appearances, scripted press conferences, vetted questions by the administration, pre-guaranteed audience applause and standing ovations, selected greeters, no visits to countries that allow free speech and demonstration, limited questions to reporters outside the US that require a brain to answer, and plenty of rest and relaxation at Camp David. Oh, and by the way, a fortified military using someone else's sons and daughters to fight wars of acquisition and revenge.

April 14, 2003

When Lawrence Eagleburger said, "If George Bush decided he was going to turn the troops loose on Syria and Iran after that he would last in office for about 15 minutes. In fact if President Bush were to try that now----he ought to be impeached", he did not realize we are no longer living in a democracy. America is now ruled by a totalitarian regime that will do anything they want, whenever they want!

* * *

Although prudence is not a Bush virtue, wouldn't you think it wise to find the (alleged) WMDs in Iraq before they accuse Syria of possessing the same? Do they really believe they can continue to scare the bejezzus out of everyone, by accusing those countries they wish to conquer of possession, without producing some evidence? Do they really believe they can continue this aggression built on illusion? How many Americans are going to continue to believe an administration who effected a bloodless coup in America? It's time to impeach the whole bunch, up to and including the Supreme Court of the United States!

* * *

What planet are we on? Since when has America condoned looting and killing? Since when has someone in a leadership position referred to looting and killing as "stuff happens"? It seems the Repuglican Guard has extended into certain factions of American Repuglicans. Ditto head pundit rhetoric has become the most aggressive, threatening, bully bull and is now accepted as gospel by those who claim to be compassionate conservatives. There is nothing compassionate nor conservative in what we are watching unfold on an hourly basis in Iraq. Where is the conscience of the American people?

* * *

Remember all those "Buddhist Temple" allegations about Al Gore? Where have all the compassionate conservatives gone? Why have we not heard about the current "China Connection"? There's plenty of sex, lies, and political involvement here, so why aren't the right wing whackos out and about spewing righteous indignity? Why are they not telling the world about the consequences of error and sin? Could it possibly be members of the Repuglican party involved? Is it really unpatriotic to tell the truth about wrong doing committed by only members of their party?
