ABOUT

Democrats and PR

A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY
by Scott

I'll admit it: I'm a lifelong Democrat. But the party has allowed Republicans to make it unpatriotic to vote Democratic. Their inability, or unwillingness, to defend themselves against such slander is beyond me.

The Dems have half-a-dozen current congressmen and senators they could put in a TV commercial celebrating their military service (simultaneously challenging the Republicans on the issue). But do you see anything like it? NO.

The Dems just had Jimmy Carter win the Nobel Peace Prize. Do you see them celebrate this? Nope. I did see Jimmy on the front page of the NY Times with W though! If a former Republican President had won this, the Republicans would have had a ticker-tape parade through the streets of Washington DC, and been all over the media for days blathering about it.

People are with the Dems on most of the issues. Dems could challenge the Republicans on others like defense and military service. But their PR is AWOL, and I'm getting real sick of it.

The DNC web site opens up with a note about "joining" their team. Who wants to join a group that doesn't have enough respect for themselves, or PR-savvy, to even defend themselves?
