Grassroots Democrats Must Answer the S.O.S.
Lets End the GOP Tyranny

A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY
by
Mary MacElveen

A few weeks back, I wrote an article where I received an overwhelming amount of supportive emails regarding it. So many, it was hard to keep up. That article was, "SOS: Our Country Has Been Hijacked by the GOP."

Some wrote in response to this article, who will answer that SOS? My answer to this person is US. Let us restore the US in U.S.A. We are now ONLY twenty days and counting down to election day, and we must do everything possible to retake the house, retain the senate, and put Bush/Cheney and Co. where they rightfully belong. In legislative handcuffs.

This means action by all of us. That means also stepping away from the security of one's keyboard, contacting your local Democratic HQs, asking how you can be of some help, and reaching out to the voters. It is do or die time, folks and we must be the ones to answer our own distress call.

If you need motivation, turn on anyone of the cable news channels and see Bush the "Campaigner in Chief" raising moneys hand over fist for his party, instead of actually doing anything to lead this country on a myriad of domestic issues. He blames the Democrats for the current economic down turn. Excuse me, Mr. Bush? This happened under your watch, not a Democrat watch.

Under the Clinton/Gore administration we had a thriving economy, and you talked it down during the presidential campaign of 2000. And you cite where we Democrats love to scare people? You said it was a bubble, but under whose administration did it pop? If you are so concerned about the economy, you would not be going state to state, but staying in Washington and actually trying to do something about it. Your idea of bipartisanship is only when you want us to see things your way. Well we have seen things your way, and frankly your way is not working.

While those who attend your campaign functions pay thousands of dollars for a plate, there are many Americans working harder and harder just to make ends meet. Or they are not working at all. These are the very people you and the rest of the GOP have left behind. They are seeing their own ship split in half and sinking into the cold troubled waters, and asking where is their government when they need it most. They are not hearing it coming from you, Mr. Bush. The only thing we are hearing coming from you, Mr. Bush, is just more blame, not accountability. We as Americans demand better, and we are not getting it.

Folks, there is a saying, "when push comes to shove," and we Democrats must be the ones who daringly shove back and take this country back from the GOP. We must have focus, our eye on the ball, and the stamina to do whatever it takes.

If I have gotten to you through this writing, then I am strongly urging you to walk away from the keyboard, get out there, and get some Democrats elected, so that we grassroots Democrats can be the ones to answer our own SOS.
