Behold Today's GOP

A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY
by Donald R. Koelper

Dear Buzz:

Here is a prime example of why I left the Republican Party ten years ago and became a Democrat, and have never regretted it since. This is a letter to the editor from a well-known GOP activist in Hawaii that appeared in today's Honolulu Weekly (and will be posted online next week):

"As 'self-styled radical feminist (and hausfrau of Congressman Neil Abercrombie), Nancie Caraway grieves over Patsy Mink's successfull move toward the light (Mauka to Makai, 'Remembering Patsy.' HW 10/2). I, too, would like to take a somber moment and remember her. Of the many things Ms. Mink may have been, 'missed' isn't one of them. It's an unfortunate commentary that the most notable accomplishment Patsy Mink ever for America did was to finally assume room temperature two weeks ago. -- KEVIN GAGAN"

The writer's tone succinctly reflects the general personality of today's Republican Party member -- mean-spirited, ill-mannered, rude, obnoxious, disrespectful, uncouth, and vile. It is now undoubtedly clear that our country is being threatened from within by pure gutter trash. And this, more than any other reason, is why we must now fight for its soul. The Kevin Gagans of the world must never, ever be allowed to gain power.

Aloha-
