BuzzFlash Reader Comments About the Bush/Booker Video June
12, 2002 * * * Dear BuzzFlash, After watching the video of Bush at the Booker school I finally have figured out why he sat there for an additional half hour. It is so obvious, I don't know why it never occurred to me before - most likely because it's so unbelievable! HE WAS WAITING FOR HIS SPEECH!!! Honestly, I can't imagine anyone above the rank of Girl Scout Leader having to have a speech written when faced with an emergency situation, but that's our President. He couldn't speak to the American people because he does not know what to say unless it is written out for him. This man is supposed to be our leaded & he can't even offer a few unscripted words to a nation in shock. Linda

* * * Dear Buzz-- It's a scary tape. One can only wonder what is going on in GW's mind after he is told about plane #2, as he sits in the classroom for many minutes, listening to the class shout out words, and then speaks to them about how good it is that they read books more than they watch TV. At that very moment, I and millions of other Americans WERE WATCHING TV and guess what we were seeing!! On the videotape, three minutes elapse from the time Bush is told of the second plane until he begins to speak to the crowd outside. In that time there are three separate edits on the tape. One would have to obtain the original tape to determine how much time those edits took out -- most tape (especially DV tape) has time code on it that would answer all these questions. Were these edits made because it is incredibly embarrassing how long our nation's leader took from the time he knew our country was "under attack" until he was able to extricate himself from a children's reading class. Was he afraid to excuse himself because he didn't want to traumatize the kids. What about the hundreds of millions Americans that were being traumatized? Four items of interest. (1) When was he (or was he) told of the first plane hitting the tower? (2) the man who leaned over to tell him about plane #2 spent precisely 2.5 seconds whispering in his ear. What could he possibly have said? How could he possibly have communicated what had happened in 2.5 seconds -- unless that is, the listener already had the "back story". (3) GW speaks to the crowd at the school, the first time he has announced what has happened, and he is reading from prepared notes. He even flips the paper from page one to two to finish his announcement. So instead of taking action, his aides are writing his speech while he sits in the classroom, obviously troubled, but then smiling to the kids and delaying his exit by asking them about their TV habits? Eeek. And (4) the moment of silence, written into his speech??, was definitely a "moment" -- it lasted exactly 5 seconds before he hurried off -- but he spent at least 5 minutes listening to kids reading AFTER he knew. We are screwed, folks!! Regards, BC * * * Tell
your readers to set their QT connection to 28k. It then seems to stream
OK . . . otherwise it seems to freeze. It is still at the school's website.
