| BuzzFlash Readers Catch Donald Rumsfeld Pulling the Wool Over the Media's Eyes on the Carlyle/Crusader Missile May 7, 2002 It seems as if Rummy is using the Crusader tank issue as the pretext for axing Army Secretary White (when we all know the real issue is the huge Enron conflict of interest). It got me thinking -- didn't Rumsfeld support the Crusader purchase? Why is he suddenly pretending he and White are at odds over this? I did a search and found this recent article from the Village Voice that puts to rest Rummy's supposed opposition to the program. How dumb do they think we are?
Late this March, as part of the post-9-11 military buildup, Donald Rumsfeld gave United Defense, Carlyle's subsidiary, the full monty: over $470 million to continue development on the problem-riddled Crusaders, puzzling some military analysts. Let's put the big lie out there! Patsy
Rogers * * * It's a tale of big guns and a big gun. It's a Bush family melodrama, a story of personal connections, possible backstabbing and multiple intrigues, a Washington soap opera. And it's all about an 80-ton mobile artillery system dubbed the Crusader.
VGDesign * * * Buzz, Is
there more to this than meets the eye? Are Rumsfeld and Bush using White
as a fall guy? Were they getting too much heat over the Carlyle/Crusader
connection, being Bush, Sr. works for Carlyle and Frank Carlucci, CEO,
is Rumsfeld's ex-college roommate and good friend still? Is this kill
two birds with one stone? Get rid of White because of the Enron connection
and his use of a private jet for personal use? The guy's got a lot of
baggage so Gigi
