It seems as if Rummy is using the Crusader tank issue as the pretext for axing Army Secretary White (when we all know the real issue is the huge Enron conflict of interest). It got me thinking -- didn't Rumsfeld support the Crusader purchase? Why is he suddenly pretending he and White are at odds over this? I did a search and found this recent article from the Village Voice that puts to rest Rummy's supposed opposition to the program. How dumb do they think we are?
Late this March, as part of the post-9-11 military buildup, Donald Rumsfeld gave United Defense, Carlyle's subsidiary, the full monty: over $470 million to continue development on the problem-riddled Crusaders, puzzling some military analysts.
