Roger Ailes, Head of FOX News Network, Vs. BuzzFlash.com: We'll Take You on With One Hand Tied Behind Our Back, Roger

Emails With Ailes, Part Three

Part I | Part II | Part III | Part IV | Part V | Part VI

BuzzFlash wants to know: What the heck does Roger Ailes do all day besides deliver buckets of ego-laced caffeine to Bill O'Reilly?

Obviously, he has lots of time on his hands, because he keeps sending nasty e-mails to BuzzFlash.com readers from his ever-trusty BlackBerry handheld device.

On April 16th, one of our readers forwarded a Roger Ailes e-mail in which he blames the Buzz for his woes. He claims we are cherry picking his e-mail responses to make him look bad.

Alas, Roger, we have printed the e-mail responses we have been sent. BuzzFlash has not edited, changed, corrected or deleted one word of Mr. Ailes' e-mail forwarded to us by readers. BuzzFlash has not ignored any of the so-called "polite" e-mails Mr. Ailes makes reference to. The fact is that we haven't received any such e-mails from the "kinder, gentler" Roger Ailes.

So Roger, here's our challenge, send us a few "polite" e-mails and BuzzFlash will be glad to give you equal time. That's more than we can say of what you offer on FOX News, the network that always swings to the right.

And now, we kindly direct you to Part Three of Emails With Ailes:

Hi BuzzFlash,

After reading your posting of an email discussion with Roger Ailes, I decided to write my own response to Mr. Ailes and he responded. He asserts that Buzzflash cut and pasted his responses to rude emails to make it appear that he was responding inappropriately. Is this true?

Thanks, Mike Irwin
Sacramento, CA

Here are my email exchanges with Mr. Ailes.

Dear Mr. Ailes,

After having read your email responses as posted on buzzflash.com I am shocked that you have such a combative attitude towards your viewers from the left. When you state that the left is losing the battle of ideas, I can only assume that this is your opinion. As evidenced by the presidential election, the left won the battle of ideas with 500,000 votes advantage Gore and millions for Nader. The opinion you exhibit is evidence that you are not as fair and balanced as your news network advertises.

Mike Irwin,
Sacramento, Ca.

I write to people in the tone they approach me. If they are thoughtful and I have time I respond thoughtfully but frankly most CEO' think they have to put up with insults from annomyous people who are rude. I don't.

I treat people the way they treat me. Buzzflash is only showng aelective pieces of what I write. When people approach me politely I respond in kind. If people are rude I let them know what it feels like. I'm not going to be a phoney for political correctness sake.

Subject: e-mail from Roger Ailes RE: fair and balanced and winning the battle of ideas

Mike,

I read your letter with interest, so I asked my researchers to take a look at buzzflash.com.
What they do is take selected answers to people who were often rude to me in their questions.

We were flooded with mail from an anti-Fox News website. Basically most of the letters sounded the same. They are pro-Crossfire, all anti-Fox News Channel, and anti-Hannity & Colmes. All of the wording is the same. So I made a general statement to people who sit around and wait to take orders from websites how to flood people with negative mail. However, I did receive some individual letters. I tried to either be funny with my responses or direct and candid.

Here is my policy. If someone is rude to me or makes an inappropriate comment, or uses derogatory swear words, calling me names, describing me as a fat ugly bastard, I tend to respond in kind. When I get nice letters, I responded nicely. When I get polite letters, I responded politely. Buszzflash.com has no interest in showing any of the good letters that I wrote back to people but have selectively edited my comments to enrage people like you. You may or may not like me or the network I'm running. But I assure you that I am being selectively edited by several websites to make me look bad. There is nothing in my contract or any nature that says I have to take abuse.

I hope this gives you some explanation. If you don't believe me, send me your fax number and I'll be happy to send you some of the responses that I did write just to give you an idea of what you will never read on any of these anti-Fox News websites. I wish you the best. Thanks for writing.

Sincerely,
Roger Ailes
