The
right wingers were clever during Clinton's term. So callously clever that
they knew if they opened enough investigations, regardless of the fact
that their claims were baseless, just so long as they would have a bunch
of investigations on record, they could continue to make Clinton look
bad.
Never mind how their investigations impeded the running of the country,
or how much could have been accomplished for America without that distraction,
it's all about their power and their lust to get it back and keep it by
continuing to discredit arguably the most productive and prosperous administration
in history.
And they're still doing it. They continue to have the upper hand by framing
the debate of Clinton's term in terms of sex and investigation, pulling
the focus away from the only thing that's of any real importance historically
or otherwise -- Clinton's record of accomplishments despite the VRWC's
unpatriotic distractions.
Here's a quote from the CNN Begala/Carlson exchange you posted:
"CARLSON:
Because they were so darn ethical, all these independent councils. I
don't know, offended by their ethicalness, came out and investigated
them. I love this. What an argument."
Tucker
Carlson sums up, in just a couple of sentences, the VRWC's motivation
for all those baseless investigations. Their line of thinking goes something
like this: If Clinton was investigated that many times, he had to be guilty
of SOMETHING. The fact that they never found anything is more attributable
to his "slick"ness than that he is innocent.
The utter lack of anything resembling ethics or morals required to pull
off this stunt, from a group-think perspective, is so hypocritical coming
from all the moralizers and ethicists on the right. Just one more fine
example of how the VRWC is clouding the waters by being so blatantly hypocritical
with everything they do that they're desensitizing the public to their
hypocricy.
