ABOUT

Dear Katherine Harris

April 11, 2002

Dear Katherine,

Please keep sending me your campaign updates -- every morning should begin with a good laugh. I'd sure be laughing a lot harder if I didn't realize that Florida Republicans are probably going to elect you to Congress, where you can inflict further damage to democracy.

Of course, nothing can compare to the damage that you did to democracy in 2000. It is utterly disappointing, and the very pinnacle of hypocrisy, that Republicans everywhere, including yourself, who puff themselves up as patriots and wrap themselves in the flag, are happy to see democracy go the way of the Dodo.

Unfortunately for you and your partners in crime -- who wounded democracy deeply -- democracy is not dead! Those of us who are real patriots, who love our country, and wish to make our democracy strong again, will fight you at every turn.

You may win this battle and get yourself a nice cushy seat in Congress, with which to inflict further damage on America, but you will find your party losing the power you so lustily stole in 2000, as more and more truly patriotic Americans realize how you, with the helpful hand of the Republican establishment, conspired to usurp democracy in 2000.

I really hope that you lose your election and I'll do whatever I can to support your opposition. But, I don't hold hope that the predominantly Republican district (that you conveniently chose to run in) will come to their senses and realize that you are a hypocrite and a threat to democracy, among other things, and they will keep America and democracy strong by voting for anyone but you. True poetic justice would be for you to suffer an embarrassing loss in your Congressional bid.

Of course, if you have anything to do with the election itself, it doesn't make much difference who anyone votes for. Much like the 2000 election, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that you and your friend Jeb have begun stacking the deck and that the fix is already in.

One day in the not too distant future, democracy will once again be strong and America will heal itself of the wounds it has suffered at your hands. It will do this only by realizing the threat that you and the rest of the Republican establishment pose to the very core principles of democracy. You can count on me, along with the rapidly growing masses of other true patriots, who are beginning to realize that threat, to work tirelessly to make sure the word gets out.

Sincerely,

Troy Torstrick

Subject: Campaign Update

The campaign is soaring!

So much is being accomplished since we last communicated! In just three months, more than 400 volunteers have joined the campaign. The interest and participation we have received is phenomenal and greatly appreciated.

Recently, we received endorsements from the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and the Suncoast Firefighters and Paramedics. These brave men and women put their lives on the line everyday to help make our communities better and safer. I am deeply humbled and immensely honored by their support. I look forward to their amazing participation in our grassroots campaign efforts.

Education, my top priority, was the topic of the campaign's first Sarasota town hall meeting in March. This event granted us the invaluable opportunity to listen and learn from the education experts throughout Southwest Florida. Participating in our meeting were parents, teachers, school superintendents, teachers' union representatives, school board members and United States Congressman John Boehner (R-OH), Chairman of the powerful Education and Workforce Committee. We discussed our area's needs concerning future legislation, as well as the importance of President George W. Bush's "No Child Left Behind Act" which gives more funding and flexibility to Charlotte, DeSoto, Hardee, Manatee and Sarasota Counties.

On a different note...United States Senator Fred Thompson (R-TN) will be in the District on Saturday, April 20, to help us raise the necessary funds to defend against the national Democrat Party's negative onslaught upon our campaign. His visit will be a truly special occasion.

Best personal regards,

Katherine Harris
Candidate for the United States Congress
