For your information, I saw a statement from Gov. Bush on his web site regarding the Manhattan Institute's recognition of Florida's recent education initiatives http://sun6.dms.state.fl.us/eog_new/eog/library/releases/2002/january/education-01-22-02.html and a press release from Education Commissioner Crist on the same issue. I thought you may want to know more about the Manhattan Institute.

By the way, as an interesting side note, according to the Manhattan Institute's web site, two members of the institute's board of trustees also are officers in Alliance Capital Management, L.P. -- Roger Hertog, vice chair of Alliance Capital Management L.P. and is the Manhattan Institute's Chairman of the Board; and Lewis A. Alliance
Capital Management L.P. is currently under investigation after reportedly
losing more than $300 million for the state pension fund. According to
reports, the company lost the more than $300 million after buying 7.6
million Enron shares -- paying from $82 a share to $9 a share -- for the
Florida retirement fund and selling all 7.6 million shares for 28 cents
a share on Nov. 30, two days before Enron declared bankruptcy. Reports
say 2.7 million shares were bought after Oct. 22, when it was announced
that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission was investigating Enron.
