| The Scaredy Cat Voter A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION How many times will the public allow themselves to be scared into voting for the “Daddy” party? Doesn’t crying wolf defeat its own purpose eventually? Many Americans are so fearful they will give up any freedom and let the government abuse the Constitution as long as they feel safe. 9/11 seems to have put these frightened little cowards into all out panic mode. Scaredy cats like the idea that we will fight the terrorists over there so we don’t have to fight them over here. They like someone else doing the fighting and the dying. Someone else’s children being shot, blown up and traumatized. Land of the free and home of the brave? Not since 9/11! Since 9/11 many Americans have turned into bed-wetting sissies scared of their own shadows. Even scaredy cats have got to wonder about the latest threats the Bush administration and its lapdog Justice Department have trotted out. The Florida Seven had terrorist uniforms on their wannabe list. Terrorist uniforms? The bunch of buffoons who wanted to blow up a tunnel in New York seemed to think that by flooding the tunnel they could make water run up hill and flood Wall Street. Huh? Americans were angry after 9/11. They wanted revenge. There were damn few people who weren’t in favor of invading Afghanistan. Then Bush and his merry band of idiots convinced all the angry and frightened little people that Saddam was about to attack us. “The smoking gun would be a mushroom cloud,” they said. There were some voices of reason, but no one was paying any attention. The war drums were beating and all the little lily-livered sissies cheered to think that they would now be safe. 9/11 provided the administration with an excuse to do what they wanted to do anyway. Attack Iraq. Just look how well that has turned out. Now Karl Rove, with his tired old bag of tricks, is out trying to convince voters these incompetent nincompoops are the saviors of the country. They will ride to the rescue in their gas-guzzling SUVs and save the nation. Question is: Who will save us from them? Will American voters be smart enough and have enough courage to reject the scare tactics of Rove and his PR pals? To paraphrase, scare me once shame on you, scare me over and over again, shame on me.
