| Does America have the temerity to take back this country from law breakers? A BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION Well it seems that Karl Rove is truly above the law when no indictment will be filed against him in the CIA leak case. My guess is that national security means nothing to the United States government if he can get away with this scott-free. In a press release by BuzzFlash.com it stated: Legal Counsel for Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame Issues Statement in Response to Apparent Likelihood that Rove Won't be Indicted: "The day still may come when Mr. Rove and others are called to account in a court of law for their attacks on the Wilsons." I wish that I shared their legal counsel’s optimism at this point, but I do not. We have seen this administration bold face lie to congress, which is an impeachable offense, and they are still in power. We have seen them take this country into a war based on lies and where it was planned before September 11th, 2001, and they are still in power. We have seen the Downing Street Memo that proves this, and they are still in power. National security means more than just intelligence leaks it also means this government’s preparedness when it comes to natural and unnatural disasters. This government led by the GOP has failed us time and time again. One only has to look at Katrina and, yes, September 11th, to know this to be true. They failed at passing on any warnings, and they failed to prepare a region for an impending storm. This is what Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson (former Chief of Staff to the former Secretary of State Colin Powell) once said of the “ineptitude” of the US government: “If something comes along that is truly serious, truly serious. Something like a nuclear weapon going off in a major city or a pandemic, you are going to see the ineptitude of this government in a way that will take you back to the Declaration of Independence.” This interview took place on CNN’s Inside Edition. Doesn’t that shock anyone? Doesn’t the leaking of a CIA operative’s identity mean anything to the American people? Will this bother those who chant “United We Stand” as they wrap themselves in the American flag? As I read that story of Rove, I growled and finally understood how the militia or separatist movement feels in their revulsion for this government. I came to understand those apathetic Americans that feel “why bother?” When you see someone escape being scrutinized by a jury of his peers ... By the way, I do not consider Rove my peer since he stands for everything that I despise. His escaping this scrutiny should bother everyone, but the sad fact is that it will not. Will this give him carte blanche to come after the Democrats and dash any chances of that party retaking either the house or senate or both? I would say so. If you feel that the opinion expressed above by me is way out of line, this is what the AP reported:
Will Rove do this? Absolutely! He will stop at nothing to continue the one-party rule of this country and the tyranny that goes with it. Will he “Swift Boat” any and all Democrats? He probably has this planned already. If the Democrats allow for this “Swift-boating,” then they deserve to lose. Also with our continued use of computerized voting machines, we are guaranteed this. With this recent revelation concerning Rove, I wonder if at some point Americans will actually remember these words stated in our Declaration of Independence:
Does America have the temerity to take back this country from law breakers? You tell me. Mary MacElveen |
