| Controlling the Web A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION I know we hear a lot about the corporate effort to take over our web because they can make so much more money, which, of course, is always of critical importance to these greedy bastards, but there seems to be no one talking about the more important reason. At least more important to we people who communicate by computer, are the changes in our politics through the use of the web. King George and his spies need not only to know what we are saying, but to control our ability to stay in contact. The corporate world controls all other forms of media and transmission of news and opinions--now they intend to take over this one. That is the most dangerous of their objectives. Let's recognize it before it is too late. If spending money on politics is a free speech issue (as said by the Supreme Court), then why isn't an open net a 1st Amendment issue? Edith M.
