Dear Friend:

'Tis spring, and ah the aspen leaves so green.

Stalwart as Ajax, Grecian warrior-lord,
Will I face dogged Fitzergaldo's ships
And if the time should come -- die on my sword.

Or bite the bullet, take the poison pill,
Perjure myself and then myself again,
Ere I reveal "Top Secret" material.
These prosecutors prosecute in vain.

Though torture have you outlawed you must know
How I would suffer rack and cattle prod,
The water-boarding or the whipper's blow.
I'll honor thee O Tex 'til next I meet with God.

Tell Scotty he must beam me up awhile
To pacify the Press, divert them more
And utilize his well-rehears-ed guile.
Who cares if Helen Thomas may get sore?
