| Dubai Ports Deal More Sinister A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION It will be interesting to see if Bush exercises his veto for the first time to override the bill disallowing the ports deal. It will be telling. What could mean so much to Cheney/Bush about ensuring the deal goes ahead to risk his veto? And why the sudden interest in the line-item veto so he could accomplish just that? Unless I'm way off base, he will exercise the veto. For the Neocons, the ports deal MUST go through. A glance at a map of the United Arab Emirates, and Dubai specifically, explains all. It is the prime location for the US to patrol the Strait of Hormuz after launching an attack on Iran, which happens to be just across the Strait. It looks to me like this deal is simply a quid pro quo so that the US (and "coalition" forces) can set up shop in advance of an action in Iran. It would be the only way the US could defend against Iran's bombing refineries and tankers in this tiny but critical area, a slim water passage through which roughly 40% of the world's oil finds passage. I get sick to my gut thinking two things: This has nothing to do really with brown-skinned foreigners managing east coast US ports. The fact that Bush is so adamant about letting a "terrorist" nation possibly infiltrate our most sensitive points of entry is a red herring. It means only that the fix is in for Iran, and terrorism has nothing to do with it. And it proves conclusively that the "War on Terror" has been a sham all along. For the bombing of Iran (supposedly their advanced nuclear facilities) to work without jeopardizing the flow of oil, the Neocons ABSOLUTELY MUST have forces in place in Dubai to guard the Strait of Hormuz BEFORE initiating the attack. I would posit that this is the only reason Bush is so adamant about this red-herring of a deal going through. So while we have all wondered why Bush would appear to change course suddenly in dealing with Islam, and why his own party and his prided Department of Homeland Security would get whiplash at his reversal, consider the bottom line. Then consider something even more troubling: The terror factor may in fact be an entire fabrication, with Homeland Security being created specifically for PR to keep the fear alive. And it would answer some basic questions about why FEMA, having been folded into basically a bogus department, could not fight its way out of this false front to actually fulfill its role in dealing with Katrina. If you look at Dubai as a critical US military outpost for the upcoming mother of all battles, everything else about this rotten, fear mongering administration falls into place.
