My Civic Duty: 'Bush Guilty as Charged'
A BUZZFLASH READER
(An Actual Fax Sent to President Bush)
To President Bush, January 4, 2006
Today, I did my civic duty and went to a court house to be selected for jury duty. I was selected to be on a jury where the case starts next week. The case I will be part of is a motor vehicle case. As I was sitting there waiting to be selected, I had many thoughts going through my head. One was to be on a jury if the American people had the guts to demand your impeachment and also to demand that you be tried for so many crimes that I feel that you are guilty of. While you may say that is not fair, I will tell you what is not fair and they are listed below.
As we know, over 2,000 of our soldiers are now dead due to the many lies told to us by you in order to invade Iraq. In my opinion that was heinous and wrong. How I wish I were on that jury.
For directing a message to the Iraqi insurgents, “Bring em on!” where the direct result has been an endless assault upon our soldiers, that was so very wrong of you. How I wish I were on that jury.
For taking endless vacations as our soldiers die in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as innocent Iraqis, that is very wrong. How I wish I were on that jury.
As we know, using your estimates, 30,000 INNOCENT Iraqis are now dead. That is both heinous and wrong. How I wish I were on that jury.
In allowing the use of white phosphorous to be used in Fallujah, that was so very wrong and inhumane. How I wish I were on that jury.
In lying to our congress and the American people why we needed to invade Iraq. That was so wrong of you. How I wish I were on that jury.
Prior to September 11th you were warned and failed to pass on those warnings, and that was so wrong. How I wish I were on that jury.
By failing the American people as Katrina neared land while off at a fundraiser and strumming a guitar. That was wrong. How I wish I were on that jury.
In denying the American people aid coming from Venezuela and Cuba after Hurricane Katrina hit, that was so wrong. How I wish I were on that jury.
For shredding our Constitution and calling it a “God damn piece of paper” and listening in on innocent American citizens, that goes against the Constitution and is wrong. How I wish I were on that jury.
For shredding the Constitution by forcing the Patriot Act down the congress’s throat where we are all feeling the effects of it, that was wrong. How I wish I were on that jury.
In holding alleged terrorists in GITMO without due process, that goes against our Constitution and is so very wrong. How I wish I were on that jury.
By spending billions for “your” war in Iraq and robbing the American people blind where it has sent us into a bone crushing deficit that will take decades to repay, that was wrong. How I wish I were on that jury.
By handing out those huge tax cuts to give to those that do not need it, again robbing from the American people. That was wrong. How I wish I were on that jury.
Many do feel that the leak of Valerie Plame’s name came from your office, and I do believe that as well. Many like me feel you did that to get back at her husband, Joe Wilson, who caught you in a lie, and that was very wrong. How I wish I were on that jury.
While I could go on, you do get the point. It would give me a sense of self satisfaction to be the jury foreman and on behalf of the American people and the world community to announce: “We the jury members find George W. Bush guilty as charged”
