Welcome to Chaos

Swinging at the giant Democratic Party Piñata is both easy and irresistible. What are these people thinking?

Congressman Murtha is excused from this gaggle of goofballs running in all directions at the same time. Ms Pelosi, you, too. You might have gotten in Congressman Murtha’s line sooner, but better late than never.

Steny Hoyer, who is Ms. Pelosi’s second-in-command, immediately jumped to the opposite side of the fence so that all newspapers and news programs could proclaim loud and long about how divided the Democratic Party is. Just call yourself the Chaos Party and send out invitations. Will there be cake?

The Democratic Party likes to portray itself as the “big tent” party with room for many different thoughts and ideas. That doesn’t mean that you don’t need a cohesive message for people to grab onto.

Many do not want the Democratic Party to become the lockstep, speak with only one voice party that we find so objectionable in the republicans. Fine, you say "po tay to" and I say "po tah to."

What the party cannot survive is everyone heading off in different directions at the same time. Pelosi says we have to go along with Jack Murtha’s plan. Hoyer says, “Oh my God no, that would be a disaster.” Kerry babbles on as usual trying to sit on both sides of the fence at the same time and Senator Clinton has wandered off into the important issue of rampant flag-burning incidents.

Howard Dean is once again the favorite punching bag of both the left and the right. I seem to remember the pummeling he took when he said that the capture of Saddam would make little difference in the violence in Iraq. Seems to take a while before people realize that so much of what Dean says turns out to be true. An occasional foot in the mouth is worth the truth that emerges without sticking his finger in the air to see what way the wind is blowing.

For those Democrats who can’t seem to help bashing other Democrats, please sit down and shut up. If you can’t help at least please quit hindering.

If you want to bash another Democrat, why not take a few swings at folks like Lieberman? It’s just like going after a Republican, is it not?

Choose silence of all virtues, for by it you hear other men's imperfections, and conceal your own. -- George Bernard Shaw
