What Golden Years?

Here comes Alan Greenspan once more trying to scare the hell out of people about all those nasty old “Baby Boomers” trying to rob the rest of the people in America. Have to cut back on their benefits. Maybe the Government just promised more than it could afford to deliver.

Let’s not worry about tax cuts for millionaires or the cost of 5 billion dollars a month for an endless war we should have never started. Let’s get in there and cut the benefits for Senior Citizens. Politicians will probably ignore this part of Greenspan’s advice knowing that messing with Seniors is a dangerous pastime. Seniors vote. Seniors pay attention. And even silly young things that age into silly old fools know when you are trying to touch their money. Find cuts for spending elsewhere Mr. "I’m rich and I don’t have to worry but you are poor and need less money" Greenspan.

Mr. Greenspan can of course be all in favor of cutting benefits for those who can least afford it while supporting Bush’s tax cuts to the very wealthy. He can also rest assured that his own $85,000.00 a year retirement is secure. Can someone explain to me how this is not hypocrisy?

Greenspan is like the “Chickenhawks” that are willing to fight to the last drop of someone else’s blood. Mr. Greenspan is quite willing to cut benefits for people who will only waste that money on frivolous things like food, shelter, and utilities. Not being worried about such things himself he is perfectly willing to sacrifice for someone else. Again, how is this not hypocrisy?

Seems like every day there is another story in the papers about a company that is dumping its pension plan. So that means that Social Security is all there may be for many Americans. It’s not enough to live on but it is something. Grandma might have to develop a taste for Meow Mix, but what the hell, it’s cheaper than Alpo.
