Listen to the ad and join the fight.

We cannot stand silently while President Bush borrows trillions of dollars in our name. We cannot stand silently while the Mr. Bush accumulates a staggering debt for our children to pay back.

People in Albany, New York, and Tampa, Florida, are taking the offensive. We are spending our hard-earned money to run "Birth Tax," a radio ad that frames the Bush policies for what they are--a crippling debt the next generation will have to pay, and pay.

Please join us, put this ad on the radio where you live. Anyone can put an issue ad on the radio.

Consider the possibilities if you, your friends and hundreds of others put this ad on the radio. Listeners in your area will get the other side of the story -- and maybe a new perspective on the bill of goods they’re being sold. Commit to one ad on Monday March 14 and ask four friends to join your effort for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. All it takes is calling a radio station and e-mailing them the audio file.

And yes, it will cost money but it’s not as expensive as you think. Generally, $50 will get you a 60-second ad in the smaller radio markets, but it will cost more or less depending on the station and the time of day. Be creative, take control, you can do this. All it takes is making up your mind to stand and fight. And keep in mind that if a radio station refuses to air this ad, refuses to acknowledge the issue of deficit spending, that’s news. And news is free advertising. You’ve hit the jackpot. Contact your local newspaper and BuzzFlash if this ad is refused.

Who: You, there isn’t anyone else. This is grass roots, organize locally.

What: A radio ad campaign to frame the Bush administration’s policies as a “Birth Tax.”

When: Monday, March 14 to Friday March 18, 2005.

Where: On your local talk radio stations. Our ads are airing during morning drive time, but anywhere, any time, is fine. Don’t know how to contact your local station? Use the radio station locater at http://www.radio-locator.com/.

Why: Because the Bush administration has excelled at two things: deficit spending and controlling the media. Progressives must frame the “Birth Tax” issue, no one else will do it for us, and if enough people participate it will not only be heard on the radio, it will become news.

Last, and perhaps most important: Tell Buzzflash and your local newspaper if you are placing an ad. We want to keep a tally of locations where this ad will play. If enough people do this, we can make a difference, we can frame the issue, we can start to take back our country.

Text of the ad:

A Buzzflash radio moment
(sound effect)
Some of us disagree with the President.
We think the Iraq war is a mess.
We think vote suppression is a crime.
We think tax cuts for the rich are a bad idea.
We think business doesn’t know best.
And we think dissent is an American value.
This country was born because people questioned authority
It’s as American as apple pie
(sound effect)
The Federal deficit, is 400 billion dollars this year,
the total National Debt is 7 trillion dollars.
I keep hearing it's our money,
But it's gone and now it's our debt.
Not corporate debt, it’s citizen debt
Every man woman and child in this country
owes the government 25,000 dollars.
It would be fair to call this a “Birth Tax.”
