My Heart is Aching

A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION

This is devastating....I am watching the results at 5:30 am with Kerry 252 and Bush 254 and Bush just sent Andy Card out there to claim victory.

You will NEVER convince me that the 2002 mid-terms and Arnold's recall were not the trial runs for their systems. This has been STOLEN again through that tactic as well as every legal maneuver and dirty trick they could come up with to suppress votes. You simply cannot convince me that all those millions and millions of heavily Democratic new registrations either voted for Bush or didn't bother to show up.

Repugs had fewer voters going into this, and when you couple that with the larger proportion of new registrations being heavily Democratic, it just boggles the mind that somehow Bush ended up with more votes. A three and a half million vote POPULAR vote lead?! No way!!

Once again we're expected to believe that conventional wisdom "didn't fit" this time, such as undecideds usually break for the challenger, the 6:00 pm exit polls usually accurately predict the winner (who was Kerry at that time), a higher population voting usually means higher Democratic vote total, etc., etc.

I refuse to believe that we are just going to take Florida's word for the fact that Bush won there, I mean, come the f--k on!...13,000 votes "lost" on one machine in Volusia county, where they are going to be "held overnight" at the county supervisor's office?! In some states they had "problems" with the machines and someone "from the company" will have to come "fix" it in the morning!

Yeah right...you come decide the vote counts on these machines...Christ.

All we have to go by is THEIR word for it....what about absentee ballots that only made it to voters 2 days before the election? What about the infamous Republican military vote that is the only group that gets to get counted even after the legal deadline for voting, have they been counted and, if not, when will they?

How very convenient that this time the margin was high enough not to generate a MANDATORY statewide recount. Although once again, you cannot tell me that you can get anything except a repeat of the first count from these machines that say that is actually a "recount"....it is not...it is a repeat of the same outcome. And since there is no paper trail we have to take their word for the fact that it was not close enough to warrant a recount. What about the cases where final screens registered Bush when the voter had voted for Kerry and they were told to cast it anyway? How many people perhaps didn't notice or check that on their ballots?

I refuse to believe I live and work with more people who support this mental pygmy as the head of the free world than not. Don't they know it is really the Rove/Cheney team aided by the Gingrich/Wolfowitz duet? I cannot imagine what the Supreme Court will look like for decades with this stooge getting to appoint them and a Republican congress to rubber stamp them. Can Harry Reid keep a 60 vote majority to filibuster them since apparently Tom Daschle got screwed out of his seat there, too, which I do not believe actually happened either. I just cannot believe all this......

I am hoping against hope that Iowa and New Mexico go for Kerry and that in a few days Ohio will have counted the votes correctly and lo and behold....Bush had declared "Mission Accomplished" too early again, and that we show that when LEGALLY counted Kerry carries Ohio.

I am sick and tired of it supposedly being so, because they SAY it's so.
