Wisconsin Republicans Question Another 37,000 Milwaukee Addresses

Okay, Wisconsin, Ohio, Florida, and I believe this is also happening in Nevada and New Mexico. Curious, they are all battleground states. The bluff is that they will challenge all these voters at the polls. Not likely. This ruse is the set-up for real legal challenges if the final vote count is close. The Rethugs can say, "well, we tried to warn them, and they wouldn't listen. The election is tainted, ain't a legal count, et cetera, because unqualified voters voted, etc. So you bad old Democrats forced us to file this lawsuit, blah, blah, blah, to save our candidate -- the saintly George W. "Righteous" Bush from irreparable harm." Remember "irreparable harm" from the 2000 election? And frankly, the Rethugs don't particularly care how long an appeal might take, the longer the better as far as they are concerned. Karl Rove's candidate for a judicial seat in Alabama finally lost the election after the court case(s) were dragged out for over a year. A year! Just think what kind of damage Dubya could do if he's allowed to sit in the White House while appeals in different states drag through the courts.

Here in Florida the last replacement absentee ballots were being mailed out yesterday, Saturday, although many were going out of state -- oh, so sorry about that -- and could not be sent FedEx as promised and doubtless will arrive in time to be sent back by the deadline, which is 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. And as of last night they were still at Brenda Snipes' office (Supervisor of Elections appointed by Jeb to replace Miriam Oliphant) printing out the mailing labels for the Dem's ballots. Why were the Dems absentee ballots the last to get processed, pray tell. The kicker on this score is that if an absentee ballot was sent then the voter cannot vote at the polls except by provisional ballot, and we all know how they count those. They don't. Classic Catch-22.

Then there's the 4,000 college students in upstate Florida (all at minority-dominant universities) who had their registrations changed not only as to party but also their addresses. Some now have two voter registrations. So those 4,000 cannot vote, period. Chip, chip, chip. Drip, drip, drip. What really burns my ass about Florida is that Jeb was re-elected in 2002 by an overwhelming majority; that means many Dems voted for him. After 2000 you would think that Dems would be smarter than that. But as James Belushi used to say, "But, nooooooooo!" So the last time I tried to add up all the Rethug schemes at work here in Florida I gave up at about 15 different ones. Arrrrgggghhhh!
