While Attacked Unprovoked,

He Sat.

While the World Turned Insane,
While Lives Fell to Flames,

He Sat.

While a Normal Day Vanished,
While Futures were Banished,

He Sat.

While Sirens Droned,
While Courage was Shown,

He Sat.

While Innocents Cried,
While Heroes Died,

He Sat.

While Tomorrows They Took,
While the Very Earth Shook,

He Sat.

And Read a Children's Book.
