The Sins of Sinclair Broadcasting Group

A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION
by Mary MacElveen

Dear Folks,

I just sent this letter out to every single newspaper and magazine in Ohio and will concentrate during the next few days in sending it to every single newspaper and magazine within their broadcast area. I used that wonderful tool, http://capwiz.com/au/dbq/media/

An Angry Democrat,

Mary!

Dear Editor,

Shortly before Americans go to the polls to decide which direction "we" want this country to go in, Sinclair Broadcasting Group is forcing many of their affiliates to preempt normal programming to air an anti Kerry program. This is unprecedented in the history of "our" elections. The monster has truly reared its ugly head and his name is Sinclair Broadcasting Group. My guess is that the only reason for this move is because Pres. Bush has nothing to offer any of us, his record proves that fact. He has failed all of us in the war on terrorism and in Iraq. Also, many issues that face we the people have not been addressed. While Pres. Bush has chosen to give hefty tax breaks to corporations and will sign such a bill before Election Day, our issues have not been addressed. Issues such as health care for all, crumbling schools, local taxes going up because aid no longer comes from Washington, DC to a wonderful surplus turned into a monstrous deficit that you and I will be paying for well into the future. That is Pres. Bush's record.

So, he must rely on a guttural smear campaign waged by one of his benefactors and that benefactor is non other than Sinclair Broadcasting Group who is a major investor in a company recently awarded a military contract by the Bush Administration. That company's name is Jadoo Power Systems, Inc. a producer of portable power systems. They announced on Sept. 28 that it had been awarded a contract to supply its products, which are used for covert surveillance operations, to US Special Operations Command.

Also, for the 2004 election, Sinclair executives have donated nearly $59,000 to the Bush-Cheney campaign or the Republican National Committee (RNC), including a $50,000 gift to the RNC from Sinclair Vice President Fred Smith. So, is their motive truly altruistic where they want what is best for the American people? I think not.

And while we are speaking of honor since the name of their program is called, 'Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal,' there is nothing honorable when their CEO David Deniston Smith was arrested back 1996 in a sting operation that involved prostitutes.

America, is this what you want for your country, where your president has to use his benefactors to decide which direction your country goes in? Aren't you tired of being manipulated by media conglomerates such as Sinclair Broadcasting Group? I am urging you all to turn your backs on their program and to take back your country. Tell Pres. Bush you have had enough!

Sincerely,
Mary MacElveen
