My Pet Goat, A Poem

MY PET GOAT

I’m sure you’ve heard tales of a train or a boat,
But please let me tell you about my pet goat.
He’s funny and frisky and jumps when he walks,
But what’s really strange is that my pet goat talks!

“Your goat really talks?” But of course! Yes indeed!
And his words are great treasures you really should heed.
He speaks with the wisdom of prophets of old
(You’re getting so sleepy and you’ll do what you’re told...)

As I was just saying, my pet goat’s a riot
(You’re feeling relaxed and the room's getting quiet...)
One look at his face and you’ll see he’s so wise.
(Yes, look at this picture and stare in his eyes.....)

Now don’t you doze off, George, the cameras are on.
The children look up to you, forthright and strong,
Full of self-confidence, bursting with pride.
They cannot tell that you’re empty inside.

But my pet goat knows, and he’ll show you the way.
He’s shrewd, self-assured, and won't lead you astray.
So just keep on reading, don’t let your eyes glaze,
Don’t sit there and drool with a blank, empty gaze.

We need you to lead us to freedom from fear.
You’ll guide us to triumph in less than a year.
We’ll tell you exactly what you need to say
To bring us together on Victory Day.

The Fox TV watchers will cheer you along.
We play them the tune and they sing us the song.
The Rapture, the Glory in Heaven anew.
Now wake up! Wake up! The world’s eyes are on you.
