Eric Seibel, died June 27, 2004 while scuba diving near Pompano Beach. Born in Greenwich Village in 1954, Eric owned "The Woodshop, Inc.," a high-end architectural woodworking company in New York City where he was a local legend in his professional community. Not satisfied unless he lived everyday of his life to the fullest, he sold the company in 1994 and embarked on a life of adventure-seeking, exploring and scuba-diving. He traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Rim and Fiji. He returned to the U.S.A. to run an advertising agency in Miami, Florida while at the same time nurturing his passion for scuba diving and the ocean. Along the way, he found time to become a Network and Systems Engineer, inventor, and accomplished sailor and technical diver. He was a truly a man for all seasons, a friend, guide and mentor who would tirelessly share his skills, intellect, and attention, and instill his enthusiasm for life, learning, challenge and politics in others. The internet dive club he founded, "e-divers.org," united scuba diving enthusiasts across several continents. He is survived by his mother, Lois; his wife, Laura Fogel and their two children Miriam and Oscar; and his brotherís family, Jeff and Jean Seibel and their daughter Allison, and son, Thomas.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday evening, July 7, 2004 at 8:30pm at Levitt Weinstein Memorial Chapel, 18840 W. Dixie Hwy in North Miami Beach (305-932-2700). The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to John Kerry for President, www.moveon.org, www.buzzflash.com, www.truthout.com, actforvictory.org or just urge everyone you know to work to defeat George W. Bush in the November election.
