Ribbons and Foes A
BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION If you've seen any of the old films of Sen. Kerry back in the 70's -- and god, who hasn't? -- you probably saw the slick dude vet that Nixon and his squad picked out, and primed up to go against that nasty John (I think Viet Nam sucks) Kerry. This guy's name was John O'Neill, not to be confused with the other John O'Neill who died in the 9-11 attacks. This John O'Neill was also a Nam vet and Nixon's outfit decided he would represent the Republican, war is so patriotic, crew. Here's the tape of the plan: Conversations reveal Nixon's desire to discredit John Kerry in 1971. O'Neill went head to head with Kerry about who was right and who was wrong in Nam. Kerry basically said killing innocent people repulsed him and the other guy, O'Neill, basically said that we killed no innocent people as we burned down entire villages. So okay, time goes by. Nixon resigns because he was a crook after all. Kerry becomes a US Senator and now he wants to become the US president. Well, apparently Kerry is scaring the hell out of the bush boys so they take aim at his Nam days, early 70's, under the heading of current real damn important events. What do they do? They channel the dead Nixon who in turn channels the living O'Neill, and once again they march O'Neill out to piss on Kerry. The guy says he is only emerging from ancient history to protect America from electing a vet who was so unpatriotic that he got a big hand full of medals for his combat service. O'Neill says he has no personal dog in this fight. Oh yeah, well go look at his history. From Daily KOS: John O'Neill is a GOP hack. This guy not only has a dog in this fight, I bet I know who buys his dog's food. Yes, that's all the bush boys have for Kerry. That dude from way back when, spinning the same old yarn and working for the same old folks, too. Think about it, if Kerry hadn't served in Viet Nam and won all those medals, what would the Republicans be using for ammo to fight him now? All they have to use against him is the very thing they don't have, military combat service and awards. The group who chose not to go and serve in Nam are attacking the Senator who did go and serve, because he did and he did it honorably. God, is this weird or what? While the public is watching who lobbed what where in the ribbon toss event, they aren't watching what's really important. Important like why was money diverted from the Afghanistan war to prep for war in Iraq and why do bush and Cheney get special treatment from the 9-11 commission. The list goes on and on and it gets worse and worse. The theory must be that if they make enough of a stink over the ribbon/medal deal, we won't smell the really rotten stuff that's going on in the White House. pissed off patricia A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION * * * Originally published here. | ||||||
