Was
Senate Ricin Story a Hoax and Grab Conspiracy?

"NBC:
Investigators question ricin test results"
I remember when the ricin story broke earlier this month (Feb. 2).
I was watching Sen. Majority Leader Bill Frist give a press conference
on it during the senate evacuation, thinking to myself, "why is
he so smug and cheery with a potential crisis at hand?" Given
a politician's propensity to soak up some media face time, I dismissed
his shit eatin' grin to the poor taste bin (something we've come to
expect from pols).
Ah, but that constant coy smile haunted me a little. I'd seen that
look before somewhere... BINGO! It's the same little creepy smile W.
has when he starts spewing those big whoppers. I didn't think much
more about it, as it didn't get much media attention in the following
days. After all, we were all mesmerized by the shock and awe of boobgate...
Things seemed to go back to normal at the Capitol quickly, and even
during Frist's press conference he weighed in with his medical opinion
and sort of pooh-poohed the threat ricin poses. So now they're questioning
whether it was ricin at all, or a false positive. There was no letter
or envelope involved, just a residue on a mail sorting machine.
The knee-jerk security response proposed is to have a private company
(yet to be named) open all congressional mail at an off-site "inspection" center,
then reseal and forward or to convert it to digital format and send
electronically. This will of course be largely unquestioned (Props
to Kucinich for raising objections) under the all encompassing national
security clause, much like the Patriarch Act.
Another under-reported story in mainstream media is the GOP's raiding
of Democrats' confidential files off a congressional computer network.
One of the central players in this scandal is Manuel Miranda, a top
aide to Sen. Majority Leader Bill Fri- HEY! Wait-a-minute!!! Is this
starting to smell really bad to anybody else? Knowing what we do now
(remember the lessons of 9/11 everyone), this is at best political
opportunism to steal and snoop more congressional documents. If it
turns out that there was no WMD at Capitol Hill either though, well...
There’s an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas probably Tennessee
too, that says ‘Fool me Once...shame on...shame on you...Folmuah can’t
get fooled again’
