The State of Lies Speech

A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY
by Maggie Richards

I listened to as much of the State of Lies Speech as I could stomach tonight, and after screaming and cursing at the TV screen for another half hour, I sent a fax to the White House -- wasted time, I know, but it lowered my blood pressure about 50 points!!

* * *

George Bush
White House FAX: 202-456-2461

In 1972 I was kidnapped and held for almost 15 hours before I managed to escape. In those fifteen hours I thought I had told my kidnapper about every lie known to mankind to save myself.

Tonight the little bitty man who calls himself the president of the United States showed me that I didn't have a clue what lying was or is. In one hour this puny little wanna be cowboy made my pile of lies look like silly stories of a 5-year-old child.

Has the Congress of this United States gone totally insane to allow this out of touch, lying corrupt man to remain in power? Are they all being blackmailed? OR is most of Congress just as corrupt as George Bush?

I simply do not understand what has happened to this country of mine that calls itself a Christian nation but will not only stand idly by while this man sends the young men and women of the Armed Services to be murdered, maimed or disabled, but indeed seems to relish this illegal and unwarranted war. How can these Christians turn a blind eye while thousands of innocent citizens of Afghanistan and Iraq are murdered because of these lies?

George Bush, I call on you to do one honest, decent thing in your life and that is to resign the office that you are slandering. The death and destruction caused by you in three short years is almost unbearable.

Please do not allow your greed, self-gratification and quest for power destroy our great country. You may believe that YOUR god might approve of what you are doing, but I don't believe that the REAL God will be so forgetful or forgiving.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor - Guilty
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors goods - Guilty
Thou shalt not kill - Guilty
Thou shall not steal - Guilty
