What Makes Bush Worry At Night?
A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY As
of this writing, we are just learning the details of the tragedy (through
eyewitness reports, not through official government channels). They were
ambushed by gunmen while traveling from one garrison to another as they
were simply stuck in traffic. It was reported that one soldier was shot
underneath the chin, the other was shot in the throat. They were dragged
from their vehicle. Their throats were slit. Their faces and heads were
smashed with concrete blocks. One of the victims apparently had his foot
severed. With such "Moral Clarity," is there little doubt about GeeDubya's priorities? Helicopters and planes have been hit with SAM's, killing dozens, and leading to the coalition authority banning all commercial flights into and out of Baghdad. Anger and violence has increased in the area. Regions that were once described as peaceful (such as around Mosul) have had attacks escalate to the point where our troops are suffering more than 30 per day. Iraqi Police Stations and Hospitals are being blown up.
Our soldiers are
being greeted with explosives, bullets and cement blocks, not cheers, open arms
and flowers. We have recently learned the circumstances of a bleary-eyed GeeDubya straying from his routine of a restful night's shut-eye to strong-arm recalcitrant majority-party congressmen into voting for the Republican sponsored Medicare prescription drug bill. This makes one wonder - does he stay up late focusing on the safety and condition of our soldiers? He doesn't have to stay awake at night, tossing and turning, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, worrying about our children coming home alive, let alone healthy or even intact. We parents worry about that so GeeDubya doesn't have to.
Heaven help us all. | |||||
