A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY On September 11, 2001, a terrible thing happened here in America. Nearly three thousand people lost their lives. Shortly thereafter, as acting President (and I do mean "acting"), you announced to the rest of the world, on behalf of the American people that "You are either with us or against us." Mr. Bush, we, the American people, need to know what happened that day. We need to know why our air defenses failed. We need know why our security failed. We need to know why our intelligence failed. We need to know why the FAA failed. We need to know why NORAD failed. We need to know why the air space over our nation’s capitol was left unprotected in violation of established air defense directives and procedures. We need to know why pre-emptive measures were not taken, in light of specific, crucial intelligence in our possession. From day one, you fought the creation of and independent committee to explore, investigate and review the circumstances surrounding the 9/11 national tragedy. Your administration, to this very day, continues to hamper, delay and stonewall this investigation. Three thousand brothers and sisters are dead, Mr. Bush, and Americans need to understand why. We need answers to all of these questions, and more. But now, more than ever, we need the answer to another question, Mr. Bush: Are you with us or against us? ~ Will Morris ~ A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY |
