President George W. Bush discusses jobs and the economy at the Timken Company in Canton, Ohio, May 28

"The sign did not mean that my economic plan would create jobs. In fact, the White House had nothing to do with the sign. It was put up by the workers at that factory, and it just meant that those particular workers had jobs." [LINK]

But really, Bush never actually said that the U.S. troops' mission was accomplished. Even so, the other day he had to explain to the press corps that "The 'Mission Accomplished' sign, of course, was put up by the members of the USS Abraham Lincoln saying that their mission was accomplished."

He never said that he actually landed that fighter on the deck of the USS Lincoln, either. But let's give credit where it's due, because you could plainly tell from photos that he did pack his own parachute

(in his pants!).

Hey, if you didn't get the chance to see his press conference, read this short review of W's press conference at

Mr. Carpenter tells why Bush's polls keep dropping despite his easy-breezy style at the podium.
