But really, Bush never actually said that the U.S. troops' mission was accomplished. Even so, the other day he had to explain to the press corps that "The 'Mission Accomplished' sign, of course, was put up by the members of the USS Abraham Lincoln saying that their mission was accomplished." He never said that he actually landed that fighter on the deck of the USS Lincoln, either. But let's give credit where it's due, because you could plainly tell from photos that he did pack his own parachute
