CBS Needs to Stick with "The Reagans" Miniseries

The CBS miniseries "The Reagans" has had the wingnut media community in a tizzy for their first week of a campaign that will intensify for the coming month until the show actually airs. According to that paragon of journalism, DRUDGE, Merv GRIFFIN and others of the-withering-on-the-vine-RAYGUNites are exerting pressure on CBS to cancel or change the program. If DRUDGE says it, how can it not be true?

One after another, Chris MATTHEWS, Peggy NOONAN, Tony SNOW, and the rest of the usual suspects have vented their outrage over: 1) RAYGUN being portrayed by STREISAND’s husband, 2) The character RAYGUN’s being quoted in a biblical slur against persons with AIDS, 3) Nancy’s extolling catsup as a vegetable.

As was noted on the Fox Watch program, the counterpart to CNN’s Reliable Sources, only ONE media personality has seen the whole script, this being the NYT’s Jim RUTENBERG, and ALL of the subsequent commentators have been playing off of what he wrote.

And yet, these same commentators have failed to take note that RUTENBERG quoted a biography putting a similar biblical slur in the real RAYGUN’s mouth. Also, none of these wing nuts batted an eye when last month’s miniseries purported to depict pResident Shrub’s supposed heroics during 9-11. And next-to-nobody objected to warts depictions of LBJ and the KENNEDYs in years past.

CBS needs to hold firm, stay the course, buckle its swashes, and all of that.
