Buzz,
In
response to this letter, in the 10-21-03
Mailbag:
Perhaps someone with the know-how can do this. Track down the sentence
given to average people who have done what limbaugh has. In the unlikely
event he gets taken to court we can compare the treatment. So far it
looks like he won't be charged at all. I'd like to hear what has happened
to others in his shoes.

That
whole Rush thing just sat on my last nerve, my 21 yr old grandson Joey
has been IN jail since August 11th <with NO bond and his 1st
court date is Wed Oct 22nd> for possession of 4 of the 'little blues'
that Rush bought 4000 of!! Same state...go figure!! 'They' figure that
by the time Rush has his 30 day voluntary Rehab finished it will be just
so much "Old News" as 'they' are so fond of saying!
I
researched some of the Statutes and penalties my grandson is facing
. . . here they are.
<So
stop being so vindictive. Rush is getting what he deserves, RIGHT??>
Well, No, not exactly. What he 'deserves' is already on the books
in Florida LAW. It says this...............and although I looked
for a loophole
for my grandson, it seems pretty cut and dried!
Statutes & Constitution
:Constitution : flsenate.gov
Possession
(6)(a) It is unlawful for any person to be in actual or constructive
possession of a controlled substance unless such controlled substance
was lawfully obtained from a practitioner or pursuant to a valid prescription
or order of a practitioner while acting in the course of his or her professional
practice or to be in actual or constructive possession of a controlled
substance except as otherwise authorized by this chapter.
Any person who violates this provision commits a felony of the third
degree, punishable as provided in s.
775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
Rush also was using Federal Express to send those drugs across state
lines, a FEDERAL FELONY!
Let's
see what Jethro has to do to change the rules for the person his bubba
called "A National Treasure"!
My
OP ED letter to the local paper follows . . . following also the email
and snail mail address for the Florida State At'ty . . . please
ask your readers to write, fax, email and CALL <use those free long
distance cell phones> to demand that he do his JOB and prosecute Rush!!
Thanks

Sounding off on Limbaugh
FLORIDA TODAY Readers
Pain no excuse for breaking law
By Aprille Terzieff
Cocoa
In regard to the admission by radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh that
he is addicted to drugs, Floridians should not allow this to be swept
away like sand from the door step.
By his
own admission, Limbaugh is involved in a crime. He should be in front
of a judge who will decide whether he belongs in jail with those
who Limbaugh has repeatedly said on his show "deserve to be there" for
soliciting, procuring, possessing and using drugs.
He made a conscious choice to circumvent legal avenues to obtain controlled
substances, instead deciding to do so illegally. That he had pain is
no excuse.
Just ask the woman I work with who has to attend a pain management class
to keep her from being dependent on pain medication so she can continue
to work and care for her children.
Ask the people without jobs, insurance or both how it feels to have
an agonizing toothache for months with no relief.
Ask the people who can't afford to go to the doctor, or even pay for
prescriptions when they have pneumonia or injuries. Instead, they must
endure and suffer.
Ask me. I worked without drugs as a waitress, wearing a body brace for
seven years as a result of herniated vertebral discs.
I won't give Limbaugh a pass, and the state of Florida shouldn't either.
The state has the duty to treat him the same way ordinary citizens are
treated when they break the drug laws of this state.
