Rush Limbaugh is a "Great American"? A
BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY When asked about Rush's little fall from grace, GWB said that Rush was a "great American." That got me to wondering, what are the criteria for being deemed a "great American." One who risks his life in service to his country? One who devotes his life to philanthropic endeavors? One who devotes his life to helping those who are less fortunate? One whose ideals and intellect serve humanity? Well, it can't be any of those. So, I guess it would be being a divisive, hypocritical, racist blowhard whose claim to fame is that his rants divide America when we should be united fighting a common enemy; Al Qaeda. Great American, my ass! The anti-drug campaign has linked the purchase of drugs to a support for terrorism, to helping judges be murdered, and to violence on our own streets. Yet Rush gets a pass on all these "connections." Of course, using the term "addicted to prescription medication" is a blatant attempt at euphemism. The boy's a drug addict! Now, my liberal slant does not let me condemn him for his addiction because it can happen to anyone. But, giving him a pass on the hypocrisy simply is not in the cards. Given the rabid, right-wing, insane pronouncements from Ann Coulter, this must have really hit a nerve. Based on the following, Rush must support pharmacy robberies, health care fraud, gun trafficking, and human smuggling (slavery). White House Drug Policy [LINK] - OxyContin. OxyContin is a synthetic, opiate, prescription pain medicine often used in the treatment of pain related to cancer and other debilitating conditions. OxyContin contains the drug oxycodone, which is a common drug used in pain relievers such as Percocet and Percodan. However unlike other forms of oxycodone, OxyContin is available in higher dose units, as a time-release formulation. Law enforcement sources have reported an increase in the diversion of OxyContin and other medications containing oxycodone. This increase in illegal use has been especially apparent on the East Coast. The increase in the abuse of OxyContin has lead to an increased number of pharmacy robberies and health care fraud incidents. Factors contributing to the rise of synthetic drugs: - Profit Motive. Synthetic drugs have a profit margin significantly higher than organic drugs. Ecstasy typically sells for $20 to $35 here in the U.S., while costing from 25 to 50 cents to produce. - Organized Crime. Drug trafficking organizations are increasingly more powerful, sophisticated and interconnected. Cartels traffic in multiple drugs and activities-such as firearms and human smuggling. I can see the new anti-drug commercials now:
