When the Bush Administration Decided to Betray the CIA and the Security of Our Nation, They Picked a Fight with the Wrong People A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY Those who missed Nightline on ABC on October 3 missed a good one. Unfortunately, Nightline’s website does not post transcripts of their show, but they can be purchased for $14.95. (What a ripoff!) On the aforementioned show, former and current CIA agents were interviewed about the leaking of the name of CIA operative Plame. It is obvious that the CIA is not going to roll over for the administration. In fact, when the interviewer spoke of Plames' husband, Ambassador Joseph Wilson’s credibility (after all, Wilson contributed to the Democratic Party and supports John Kerry, God forbid!), one agent’s response was that all five of those present were registered Republicans who had, in fact, voted for Bush. But, he argued rightly, as citizens they were free to support and vote for whomever they wished and it had nothing to do with credibility. Furthermore, they accused the Bush administration, not Democrats, of politicizing the situation. One agent went so far as to say that if the administration did not stop politicizing it and start cooperating fully with the investigation, CIA agents were going to keep comin’ at ‘em. They’re not going to stay quiet, they’re not going to back down, they’re not going to roll over. Looks like Bush and Company have messed with the wrong people this time. Does anyone else hear the foundation crumbling? A Buzzflash Reader A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY |
