The Corleones in the White House

A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY
by Cathy

Dear BuzzFlash,

We shouldn't be surprised that a Senior White House Member told Novak and other journalists about Wilson's wife being with the CIA in an attempt to punish Wilson for revealing that Niger had no knowledge of a yellow cake deal with Iraq.

This is the manner in which these cronies have been operating since the Puppet Bush threw his hat in the ring for president. Here at BuzzFlash, we have often spouted off at democrats who became timid and docile after outing Bush for one thing or another. Now you know that the Bush cronies have no apprehensions about identifying a CIA member, endangering her life and those associated with her. Doesn't that bold act of retaliation tell you that they have used strong-arm threats against the democrats in congress? Daschle, Biden, Lieberman, Gebhardt and a few others mysteriously backed off of episodes several times ( too many times) convincing me that they got a little ringy-dingy from someone in the White House after bucking past Bush atrocities. Hey, a little threat here, a little threat there and those Dems became pussy cats. And of course, those threats probably were of the (we will ruin you) variety. Awww, let's say, a call to Daschle threatening to set up rumors about Tom and marital infidelity. Even though it would not have been true, possibly Daschle knew the power of this crowd to make it look true. All he needed to do was look at the methods used by the neoconsleeze on Clinton. Yes, Clinton actually had personal indiscretions in his life, but most of the persistent allegations were later proven baseless. The point is, why should a congress person have to spend precious time defending himself against baseless allegations and smears which could end up costing him an election? Let's face it, that is the intent of the allegations starting out. That's how they can threaten (we will ruin you) even though there is no substance.

In a couple of past commentaries, I have referred to this administration's tactics as Mafia-like. We have seen documentaries over the years which expose how the Mafia strong-armed people who could inconvenience them. The methods varied, but they were always similar... things like, you do what we say or your little girl may disappear from the school yard some day. Considering Wilsongate, this is as Mafia-like as it gets. The Guidos in the White House tried to lean on Wilson. They identified his wife and announced that she was fair game. Furthermore, Novak knew better and the cronies who leaked the information knew better.
