Bush Sr's Comments on Traitors and My Fax To AG Ashcroft

A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY
by Mary MacElveen

"Even though I'm a tranquil guy now at this stage of my life, I have nothing but contempt and anger for those who betray the trust by exposing the name of our sources. They are, in my view, the most insidious, of traitors."

Remarks by George Bush
41st President of the United States, At the Dedication Ceremony for the George Bush Center for Intelligence

My Fax to AG Ashcroft:

Attorney General John Ashcroft
950 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20530
Fax: (202) 307-6777
Email: AskDOJ@usdoj.gov

To Attorney General John Ashcroft, September 29, 2003

While I am not the biggest fan of the U.S.A. Patriot Act, since it is the law of the land there must be something within this law to arrest those responsible for the leak of that Central Intelligence agent's identity. If we truly wish to win the war on terrorism any leaking of America's intelligence agent's identity must be dealt with swiftly. It is your duty as Attorney General to arrest those responsible for the leaking of this agent's identity. It is also your duty as Attorney General to arrest the only journalist who leaked her identity to the public and that, Attorney General, is Robert Novak. It is my opinion by leaking this information it breached our nations intelligence. In so doing, those that allegedly leaked this information and Mr. Novak who disseminated this information to the public should be charged with treason. While I believe in the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press, I feel that any dissemination of any intelligence agent's identity puts us further in danger. While Mr. Novak consistently writes about keeping our nation safe, he has violated his own code of conduct and must be held accountable.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Mary MacElveen
