Reality Check in the Whitewash House A
BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY Dear Buzz, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. The public was nauseatingly saturated with that image. Now the Whitewash House is back-pedaling as fast as it can from any and all prior claims about Iraq. They are now telling us, "bush never uttered those words." [LINK] Is this another one of their "technically correct" excuses for their lies and exaggerations? James Moore (Bush's Brain) has already exposed their Rovian technique: "... you should run every political campaign as though people are watching television with the sound turned down. And toward that end, you rely heavily on imagery and not very much on substance ..." [LINK] For this administration, then, the image is the message. And make no mistake about it, the landing on the aircraft carrier was pure political campaigning. Let's back up to May 3, 2003, an Associated Press release by Scott Lindlaw. [LINK] I would like the bush flock to pay close attention to Ari Fleischer's words. He spoke them, and no one has ever come forth to correct his statement: "This is not about the president (sic). This is about thanking the men and women who won a war," he said. "Won a war." Mission Accomplished. "Won a war." Mission Accomplished. If they didn't believe it themselves, why did they perpetrate a deception? If they did believe it, why are they now waffling and engaging in legalese? I am thoroughly disgusted by the degree of contempt which the current administration holds for the American public. Regards, Elaine A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY | |||||
