Bush Raises "Civility" Defense? Don't Make Me Puke! A BUZZFLASH
READER COMMENTARY So Bush thinks Senator Kennedy lacks civility for calling Bush's intentionally misleading information, in the days before the war, a "fraud"? What I say to Bush is, how civil is/was: 1. The aftermath of the 2000 election? Storming offices in Miami? What is this, Guatemala? 2. Your roots and your hand-picked monopoly of power, the Texas Republican Party? Their behavior has been just below kindergarten. They hold up bills to help Texans ram through a highly partisan redistricting bill at the last second. And when the Texas House tells them, "no way, this was decided in the courts already," they force a vote and force the Reps to leave the state, to keep the the Repugs from railroading such a partisan bill through, on the Repugs first time in power. Then they do the same thing in a special session, then in another special session, costing millions to Texas taxpayers, then fine their Democratic colleagues and take away parking privileges, then do that stupid bill AGAIN in a third special session, having to CHANGE THE LONGSTANDING RULES OF THE SENATE to get it done... 3. The treatment of Max Cleland in the 2002 elections? Calling him a traitor, a man that lost body parts for this nation, all because he didn't support YOUR PARTICULAR bill for homeland security, a bill YOU YOURSELF were a late night convert to? 4. The California Recall? Eight months after an election, your cohorts in California PAY signature gatherers per signature to get a recall of the Democratic governor, at a cost of millions to California taxpayers? And for what? 5. The treatment of the French and Germans, our ALLIES in the fight against terror, before the Iraqi war? All because they DARED to question you on your (now proven false) claims of imminent WMD's and "nukular" capabilities? I could cite more, but I'm getting ill...suffice it to say, to me, the day of civility has long passed. We have been shushed too long, and our voice will shout with a deafening reverberation in November 2004. Just try and stop us. Go Teddy, go. Marc
