The
Bushyburg Address
A BUZZFLASH READER COMMENTARY
by Mark Blakeburn
Two years and a few months ago American voters brought forth on this
continent a new Administration conceived in greed and dedicated to the
proposition that some people are created more equal than others. Now we are engaged in a war testing whether our nation can flatten in
a matter of weeks a puny, Third-World dictatorship. We gather to dedicate
an unknown portion of our failing economy so that unknown thousands of
Iraqi children may find a final resting place, giving terrorists a reason
to bomb us out of our skulls.
It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this? But, in
a larger sense, we can obliterate, we can decimate, we can incinerate
the citizens of Baghdad because we have the Weapons of Mass Destruction
to do so.
The world will little note nor long remember George W. Bush's lies,
but it can never forget what he lied about. Now, it is for Bush to be
dedicated to the great work waiting before him: covering up the carnage
he has caused.
He must highly resolve that it makes no difference Iraqi children died
in vain, that this nation under his fundamentalist God shall have a new
birth of fiefdom, and that government of the wealthy, by the wealthy,
and for the wealthy shall no perish until November 2004.
