Martin Luther King Would Be Outraged

Yesterday was Martin Luther King Day. CSPAN had Civil Rights meetings on most the day. Not one person (including Democratic politicians) mentioned that our civil rights have been negated by the Patriot Act. If find this very unsettling. Did they think, we wouldn’t notice?
As a citizen, I am very concerned over the future of our democracy. I read recently, in a woman’s magazine, that approximately 50% of men and 60% of women have trouble sleeping since 9-11. We are worried about our freedoms and way of life.
Only the governors and various cities can tell our Congress and President, this is unconstitutional . . . and we will not accept it. The City of Chicago has declared the Patriotic Act void. Many other towns are doing the same thing. Write or call your governors and demand they protect your rights.
Clinton "smoked them out" and put the WTC terrorists in jail, the old fashioned way. He got a warrant and had a trial. Ashcroft said, he needed this extra power to get bin Laden. Well, it did not work. He lied to us about his intentions and put American citizens in jail without lawyers . . . is using torture, etc. Seems to me, bin Laden has won.
An article, in the Washington Post http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&node=&contentId=A27748-2001Oct20¬Found=true, tells how the Justice Department is trying to get the "truth" out of four "terrorists". After listening to the cruel and inhuman treatment of Susan McDougal, I believe, we have a tyrannical government. They are using torture to make prisoners say, what they want to hear. They can then justify their agenda.
I’m really not convinced who did the 9-11 terrorism. The President’s "stand down" actions, administration’s gag on information and investigations, and his taking our Constitutional rights away, lead me to believe, it was from the top level of our government . . . not from Afghanistan or Iraq, etc. They are using their "unending war" as a "smoke screen" to get their World Order trade and government agenda. They can't do it without negating our democracy and legal systems.
It is unbelievable how this Congress has allowed the Executive Branch, all appointed officials, to take powers that are not theirs to give. Congress wiped their hands of any duties, responsibilities, and power written in the Constitution. For them to say everyone else did it, is unacceptable.
Our courts will not help us since, they also don't know their duties and powers written in the Constitution. They "selected" the President of the United States.
All the 9-11 Acts (Patriot Act, Homeland Security Act, Fast Track, FISA Court) that they passed, are unconstitutional. The President and his cabinet refuses to answer questions about the budget, their goals, 9-11 actions . . . etc. Congress (who are representatives of the people)have a right to know. The FISA Court is against the Bill of Rights and is like a "kangaroo court" of old Russia. We fought the Cold War over this.
States would not pass the Constitution and join our union without the Bill of Rights. They wanted a written promise protection from their own government. They experienced tyranny from the British occupation and war. It is safety valve against government oppression. It is for good reason, they took it from us. If we fail to obey . . . they can jail us without a lawyer, etc. If we protest . . . they jail us, they torture us to confess to untruths, etc. These Bill of Rights are to protect us from our government in times of war and disaster . . . emergency. Not be negated at that time.
They are allowing the party, in power, to appoint their friends . . . not using the civil service system. This will lead to corruption (the very reason Civil Service was formed in the first place). They will be privatizing many of the duties of federal workers to outside contractors . . . who will lie and steal from us. This administration has already proven, they will not answer or be responsible to anyone. Yet . . . Congress gave them more power.
To change the duties and powers of Congress, the President, and the Courts, consent of the states is necessary. They need a 2/3rds vote of all states to change anything. If they have new amendments and changes . . . they need to be accepted by us.
Challenge this Congress and President about their unconstitutional 9-11 Acts. Repeal the Patriot Act in your state.
Demand your rights as Governors, Mayors, etc. for your citizens to control disasters and emergencies . . . not FEMA (FEMA leaders not elected by the people of your state who could abuse their rights). FEMA is there to help, not rule. Too much power in the hands of "selected" people, at the very top of our government, can lead to abuses . . . especially this one!
Impeach Bush for his actions on 9-11, his lies, his stealing from our treasury for the rich, his foreign policy endangering our lives and making us an enemy around the world. He is incompetent to lead. Yet, this Congress has given him unconstitutional powers to do as he pleases with our democracy.
