A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION by Carolyn Rose Goyda A thinly veiled way of saying West Virginians are all rednecked or white trash or bigots?? I can't believe a respected newsletter used that phrase in their subject line. Gee, has there been some overnight evaluation of the primary voters' educational levels or just more unreliable exit poll rhetoric?
West Virginia's Mountainous Imponderables "... Now there's a Democratic primary-victory stat to be proud of -- hail the hardworking, toothless hayseed vote.."
It is that kind of hare-brain "hayseed" uppity condescending elitism that has sent so many old previous Dems to the Republican side for the past two decades. No one can or should champion racism NOR sexism but one should hardly embrace or mistake 'class-ism' or 'regionalism' as clear and honest analysis.

I am one of the many thousands of African-Americans who are actively engaged with the Democratic Party. (I began immediately following my college graduation). I have held my nose and voted for a few Dems that I really didn't care for. I truly loved and supported Bill Clinton. Technorati Tags: Reader Contribution Clinton Race Card November Vote

A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION by egale33 Journalists often offer politicians an opportunity to dig themselves out of verbal missteps, for example, Hillary Clinton saying she would "obliterate Iran" if it attacked Israel. Surely, given the chance, she'd tone down the rhetoric and say that she really meant she would contain, or perhaps counterattack, the rogue nation.
Not Hillary. On Sunday TV, she stood squarely behind her "obliteration" fantasy, saying that she had been "very clear" about what she meant. OK, people. No embargoes, no bombing airstrips or military installations. Hillary said that if Iran misbehaves on her watch, the nation will cease to exist at America's hand. Top that one, George Bush.

Are the voters in Indiana and North Carolina going to fall for the newest political "trick," the one where Senators Clinton and McCain join hands and offer us a three-month break in the federal gas tax? We hope not and should spread fuller information about it to our friends.
These two senators insult our intelligence by waving it in our faces, like a piece of cheap candy to win a child's affection. The tax is 18.4 cents a gallon and the savings for each of us is estimated to be $30. The cost to the government is 18.5 BILLION dollars. And what we need to remember with a little more ferocity is that when anything COSTS the government, who is in deep debt, it means borrowing it, probably from China, and leaving the debt for our children to worry over. All so each of us can head to the beach this summer with a spare 30 dollars? I recall the horrifying root of our economic woes: we continue to borrow from the Chinese so that we can send money to Saudi Arabia (home of most of the 9-11 terrorists, a fact some still get confused over).

A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION by Amy Branham A few weeks ago when my husband and I participated in the Texas County Democrat Caucuses as delegates for Barack Obama, we had some very interesting conversations with people. We asked them, why are you voting for Hillary Clinton? What is the appeal? Their answers varied but not a single one of them was based on her policies or her decisions or the actions she had taken while in office or in the White House. One woman told me, "I'm voting for Hillary to give her a show of my support. She deserves it after all Bill put her through." A man, who considers himself a New England Liberal Democrat, was voting for Hillary simply because she is a woman. Still others were voting for Hillary because they are "blue dog democrats" (their line, by the way, not mine) and felt it was the party's position at the time.

A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION by Leigh Saavedra Many of us kept quiet with a notion that sounded almost like treason. Afraid of being branded as conspiratorial lunatics when we first considered an outrageous idea to explain why Hillary and Bill Clinton are hanging on to a numerically lost cause, like turtles, dead, still clinging to an overhanging branch rather than falling to the water below, we tried to think it couldn't be so.

There is a difference between the "negativity" claimed by each side in the Clinton-Obama struggle for the Democratic nomination. While the blogs and reader comments are often vitriolic from both supporters of Hillary Clinton and supporters of Barack Obama, Senator Clinton is the only one of the two candidates to go malicious herself.

A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION by One Citizen Whose fault is it when the government knowingly tells its population that something is safe when it isn't and folks get sick and die? Who is liable when the director of the EPA told workers that the environment was safe to work where the twin towers had collapsed knowing that the dust and smoke from the debris containing asbestos, fiberglass, and the deadly concentration of PCBs from around 50,000 smoldering office computers would likely permanently injure and even kill them?
And just WHO are the PHANTOM FASCISTS?
Christine Todd Whitman had an apparent conflict of interest that may have affected her judgment, in that Whitman had a personal financial interest in getting Lower Manhattan up and running again. If she played her cards right, she could also provide legal cover for her husband's insurance company and help them justify refusing payment to workers harmed as a result of false government assurances.

A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION The only remaining argument that the Clinton campaign keeps rolling out is that Barack Obama is not electable and that McCain and the Republicans will wipe the floor with him. This argument has only one slight facet in its favor; it could become a self-fulfilling prophesy where significant numbers of HRC supporters refuse to vote for Obama, or God forbid, vote for McCain. Otherwise it is ludicrous. Technorati Tags: Reader Contribution Electability Clinton Obama Negatives
