What is it with John McCain? What is he looking for in a mate or a running mate?
McCain/GOP pick for Vice President of the United States Sarah Palin, aka Miss Wasilla.
His first wife, Carol, was a model. [1]
His second wife, Cindy, was an Arizona rodeo queen [2] and cheerleader [3] in college.
Just days ago, John suggested Cindy McCain could win the semi-nude biker/beauty pageant out in Sturgis, SD, the Miss Buffalo Chip competition. [4]
McCain, Drogin relates, told his rowdy listeners "that he had encouraged his wife to enter the annual Sturgis beauty contest, one in which nudity is not uncommon. [5] ... 'I told her with a little luck she could be the only lady to serve as first lady and Miss Buffalo Chip,' he said with a broad grin."

Today John McCain announced as his vice presidential running mate Sarah Palin -- [6] "the runner-up in the Miss Alaska pageant (her special talent was whistling) ... In 1984, after winning the Miss Wasilla contest earlier that year, Palin finished second in the Miss Alaska [7] beauty pageant [8] which won her a scholarship to help pay her way through college. In the Wasilla pageant, she played the flute [9] and also won Miss Congeniality [10]."
Will Little Miss Sunshine be John McCain's Ambassador to the UN?
If John McCain is angling for the "woman vote," women have to ask, does he take women seriously?
Or does he just use them?

It will be interesting to see what Hillary Rodham Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro* will say about this latest McCain pick.
