MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON
BuzzFlash,
What do many politicians, preachers, and prostitutes have in common? Well, aside from all of them being in sales, what they all have in common is that, at any one time, they will find themselves being used by MSM . . . big guy media, as their front page story. Stories that are supposed to lead the American people around by the nose, changing their views, as well as providing local entertainment. Never mind if the facts are vague or even if the story is childlike in it's fairy tale flavor . . . if we Americans didn't just love the challenge of reading the news with our heads in the sand, these type of stories would soon disappear, and in their place, we might really learn something . . . about ourselves, that is.
For instance, the latest tabloid feature has been for big guy media and a few Americans to think that Obama should be responsible for what the preacher in his church has to say about the racism and injustice that still thrives in this country. Yet, how many Americans questioned why the white preachers, especially those who visit and follow the Bush GOP, (and also are given special treatment) were not, and are not held to the same account. Falwell, Robertson, as well as the members of the Catholic Church to name just a few. If the candidates are to be scrutinized by big guy media, and only Democrats according to their religion, shouldn't Hillary Clinton's membership in what's been referred to as a secret fundamental group called "The Family," also be brought out into the open?
However, if these other preachers and religions are not just as important . . . isn't it possible that many Americans refuse to see the injustices and racism that still lies under a very thin veneer of US government, US law, and US democracy, covered with a heaping amount of US hypocrisy? What about Jena, Louisiana? What about New Orleans? What about our prison population? One in every five Americans in prison? Why are there no questions about that number? What about the so-called drug war? What about the violence-driven policies of the Republican NRA? We, as a people, aren't that bad, it's our government that does not represent us, and we can't even get them impeached for their obvious crimes against humanity.
What about those who have been sentenced and why? Do we have separate laws for Americans of color and white Americans? Of course we do. Bush is a prime example of that. And, why don't more Americans care, especially those who say they are members of the Democratic Party. Don't expect the same from the Bush GOP. They couldn't care less. They have been loyal to Bush's war against the world, and against the American people, and anyone who has supported the Bush GOP should be questioned, especially if they are Democrats. The Bush Republican Party has torn our government to shreds, as they do every single time they get into any leadership position. It's time to say "Never again!" And, to make that happen, we have to have accountability. When that happens, we won't find a Republican capable of criminal actions any where near DC, and what's better than that, we won't find any Democrats supporting them.
Big guy media also understands that Americans love to read and snicker about sex scandals, and they do their best to provide one now and then, but it also depends upon whether or not you are a Republican or a Democrat, who gets most of the headlines. For instance, the Democratic Governor of New York stepped down because of his preference for prostitutes. Prostitutes have been around since the beginning of time. It's his hypocrisy and hubris that should be condemned.
But, if it is the prostitutes that upsets mainstream America, then why did the White House escape the same scrutiny when a gay male prostitute, under an assumed name, who had access to our White House for a long time, and was even called upon to answer questions during news conferences by George Bush, never questioned or investigated? Eh? Who else has had complete access to the people's White House during the past eight years?
We Americans can't look forward to change until we refuse to fall for the pettiness of racial and religious triangulation that has been a useful tool by the Bush GOP for years, and that is why the Clinton, Obama campaign is a gift they think came from heaven just for them, but if we take a look back for the past two years or more, it was actually big guy media driven. Why would any real, loyal and believer in democracy and the Democratic Party follow any candidate that triangulates, obfuscates, refuses to talk about the issues, voted for the war, voted to imprison people for protesting by burning the flag, and most of all, after money and the American people have supported these Democrats for years while being attacked by the Bush GOP, like Lieberman, turns around and loudly voices to back the Democratic Party's opponent, John 100 year war and Bush boy McCain?
Yet, all we hear and read about today from big guy media are complaints about Obama and the Reverend Wright's sermon about what he considers as a double standard for whites, and the double entendre remarks coming from the Clinton campaign. Who, today, can say they are satisfied with the policies of the US? Because of a weak Democratic leadership, this country is still without any accountability, and those responsible for invading/occupying another country through lies, and intimidation, and no one in big guy media seems to be upset about the deaths and displacement of millions of innocent people. No one in big guy media seems to want to talk about the debt, death, and destruction brought about by the Bush Republican Party, and no one in big guy media wants to talk about the Democrats in Congress who supported them. In other words, which candidate can we expect to once and for all bring accountability, also known as law and order, back into US government? Something else that big guy media doesn't give a flipped page about.
Those are the P's and Q's . . . the Principal Principles . . . Questions and Answers, not the constant petty, race driven, big guy media ugly headlines that belong in a student council newspaper in any American high school, but probably wouldn't be allowed. If we are to become a grownup nation of people who believe in our Constitution and Bill of Rights, who believe in justice for all, then we must pay reverence to those who have died for those same papers for generations, and for those who have walked on their graves, they must be made responsible . . . we have to respect and live up to those same documents for them to have meaning now and for future generations.
For those whose votes are driven by some imaginable fears of the unknown . . . haven't we had enough triangulation throughout our society, including the use of racism, debt, death, and destruction by this country's leaders for over 30 years? What's the worst that will happen under another Republican President who will be supported by one of our own Democratic Party candidates again? Another invasion/occupation . . . Iran. If Americans want to fear something, they should fear that. And, another reminder that Obama and 95 percent of the African American population were against the invasion into Iraq.
What could be more helpful for white Americans to understand the underlying racism that still exists in this country than an African American president with an ethnically mixed cabinet? Isn't that what this country is supposed to be about? The only people in this country who didn't come from some other country are our indigenous American Indians. Ask them about racism and our society today. How many American Indians do we find in our government today, and is that number representative of their population?
Another 'P,' to question. We have to clean up our past. Undo what has been done through the years within this nation, and around the world by the past and present Republican Party with the support of some Democrats, and bring this constant use of triangulation to a stop before we can bring about change and move on. We aren't going to be going anywhere as a split nation, as a media, headline-driven nation. We will still find ourselves stuck in our past, prejudicial, poisonous, politically driven, junkyard dump.
