Pick the day Barack Obama should tell us his running mate for VP

Hey, it's Friday, it's August. You probably want to get to the beach or fill up the kiddie pool or go off to sell your blood to pay for gas and groceries. Either way, today's question is simple:

The Olympics start tonight with the Opening Ceremony. The Democratic National Convention is August 25. Somewhere in between, Barack Obama will choose a running mate.

So today's question gets right to the point: tell us which day Obama should tell us who he picked for his running mate.

August 24 is the Closing Ceremony, so August 22 might be a good time to establish momentum before the Closing Ceremony.

August 15 could be a good halfway point, but Obama will likely still be in Hawai'i on his vacation/fundraising.

The VP nominee will likely speak on August 27, so perhaps Obama could wait until 6 p.m. Eastern that night just to make it really suspenseful. Maybe Obama could have a 1-hour selection show airing on all 3 major networks, like the NCAA March Madness show or "American Idol."

Or perhaps he should announce before 8 p.m. Eastern tonight when the Opening Ceremony airs in the United States.

But let us know what you think: when should Obama make his announcement? Technorati Tags:

WHO

I agree that who is better than when the VP is announced. We'll never start healing and getting anything done until these idiots can figure out a way to look across the aisle without flipping birds or seething with anger........I think he should think about a turn-around and talk to Chuck Hagel.....he's got all the medals, he's moderate, he's progressive, he's pro-choice..................they're talking about risking by voting for him..........I think this duo would be very provocative!!! And, a shoo-in! gizmoe

I don't think so.

Hagel gets 100% from every evangeloony group, is anti-choice, and is one of the most arch-conservatives in Congress. He has a problem with the WAY the war was done, not that it WAS done.

Obama Running Mate Announcement

It is way past time for Obama to announce his running mate. The campaign is wasting valuable advertisement time. Meanwhile, the campaign is floundering for lack of printed advertising, being reluctant to waste money on bumper stickers, pins, or yard signs that has Obama's name only. These advertising materials should be covering the streets and cars, but the public is waiting for the merchandise with both candidates names. Poor planning or is he getting rejections from several of the top choices, taking up precious time? Let's hope not.

When is not important

....but who is very important! I believe the best choice for VP would be...... Vincent Bugliosi!!!! There is only one thing that needs to be done at this time and that is to hold the Bush gang accountable for their crimes and Bugliosi is the guy who could get the job done. Besides Obama doesn't have the stomach for it and he would be free to concentrate on lesser issues. Nothing will be accomplished; absolutely nothing of any value will be passed, until George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are held accountable for all of their illegal acts and crimes against the American people!!! We must ask ourselves what is more important the political careers of the candidates or our duty to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and DOMESTIC!

I agree and I think it is a

I agree and I think it is a damned good idea. Obama will be much too busy straightening out the damage being done by the scoundrels. Those would be dealt with by Congress and Vice President Vincent Bugliosi. I cant wait!!!

I don't care when.

I'd like to see Hillary make the announcement.

Not a bad idea ....

She's big enough to put aside her feelings and do it if asked.

Unlike a bunch of Clinton-haters ....

............... right Mikey?

VP running mate

Wouldn't it be fun if he could announce his choice just after he is elected? That may entice others to vote for Obama just for the simple reason that everyone loves a mystery. He could create his own "Who shot J.R.?" buildup of momentum! The best part of waiting would be that Mr. Obama would not be under any pressure to pick someone who would be palatable instead of someone like Kucinich who would be terrific.

VP running mate

I think he should re-institute the old time way of doing things and announce his running mate right at convention time. In the old days, the v.p. was selected during the convention. This year, he cannot do that because the Hillary dead-enders will make all kinds of mischief. So, I think he should announce his selection a couple of days before convention. This will add a huge amount of exciitement in the media and will put the Hilary dead-enders out of commission. I hope.
