Ask Not What Hillary Wants. Ask What Hillary's Supporters Want.

BE ELECTED
by Christine Bowman

"A lot of people are asking, 'What does Hillary want?'" Clinton told supporters at a rally in New York. "I want what I have always fought for: I want the nearly 18 million people who voted for me to be respected and heard." -- Senator Hillary Clinton, June 3, 2008

www.washingtonpost.com...

Possibly, those people asking what Hillary wants have been asking the wrong question. What if we ask instead, "What do Hillary's supporters want?"

Obviously, many find it hard to stop wanting her as the next President of the United States. But if they come to grips with not getting that, then what?

We invite Hillary supporters in particular to respond to this question: "What do you want?"

Once it's not about Hillary personally, what is it about? Or is it still about her as a unique figure?

Go Far Away!!!

I want Hillary to go so far away that I never have to see her ugly face, or hear her abrasive voice ever again in my life-time!!!!!!!!! This is my wish for Hillary, and it is also my wish for Bill, a man I supported twice for the Presidency, in spite of his many embarrassments to our party and our country, but a man who I continued to support (and enable), until this DIRTY CAMPAIGN for his wife! To "get lost" would be to put mildly, my wishes for these 2 worn-out party hacks, who have long ago lost their luster, and who do not share my principles for this nation. As an "older, white, female," I take great exception to the never-ending lies continually spread by the Clinton campaign, and I am soooo glad to see them go!!!!!!!

"Dirty Campaign"??!!! You ain't seen NOTHING yet!

"Dirty Campaign"???!! Oh, BOO HOO! Poor Obama was subjected to a "dirty campaign" in the primaries. Look, if he can't take the heat of minor primary armwrestling, how in the bloody hell do you think he can possibly win against the Mighty Right Wing Wulitzer which is readying its "Swift Boat" attack machine even now? They will throw everything INCLUDING the kitchen sink at him, and ESPECIALLY his wife. Whatever offense you took at the Clinton's campaign, you'll think it was a mild game of checkers compared to the Republican Cruise Missles of Hate that will be coming his way. Obama desperately needs some fighters who aren't afraid of getting muddy. HRC has been there, done that. So has Bill. If you want to see a Democratic Presidential victory in the fall, you had better pray that both Clintons campaign arduously for him, because they already know how dirty the Republicans play. Incidentally, putting HRC on the ticket would give her the freedom to play the "Cheney" attack dog role, and she could lay waste to the so-called "Maverick" who has flip-flopped on every single issue that gave him a "maverick" reputation up to and including "kissing the ring" of the "agents of intolerance" from the Wacky Far Right Religious Mullahs in this country. Sorry you feel disillusioned about the Clintons, but they still wield power and experience, qualities that will serve Obama well if he hopes to win this election. -----duckfubya Lost in the Pines of Nacogdoches, TX

What I do NOT want...

is for Obama to choose Hil O'ree as his running mate. She comes off as if she feels she is owed the Veep office, for what reason I have no idea. Her speech from NYC last night was a grand testimony for sour grapes, all about Hillary Rhodam Clinton, not the good of the country, not the people whom she is (supposedly) serving, not the Democratic Party, or unity only about herself. Sorry but she failed the test with marks as low as W's.

Hillary's Next Job

I hope that Obama offers Hillary Clinton the next opening on the Supreme Court! She would be very good there, and I'd love to watch her "obliterate" Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia!!!

Uh,

Mrs. Bill Clinton graduated in the BOTTOM third of her law class. She was fired from her job on the Nixon impeachment committee because her work was "worthless." The person running the lawyers on the committee, a renowned law professor, refused to give her a recommendation, only the 3rd time in his career he refused to give a subordinate one. Most valet parkers could do Thomas. Scalia may be a vile excuse for a human being, but could take her on.

Oooooooooops .... Another lie from Bettysdad!

HC was NOT fired by Zeifman, a claim that was first promoted by conservative writer Dan Calabrese, Rush Limbaugh, and Neil Boortz, but is false.

"Limbaugh made these claims while apparently reading from a March 31 article by conservative writer Dan Calabrese, which asserts: "When the investigation was over, Zeifman fired Hillary from the committee staff and refused to give her a letter of recommendation." Calabrese cites Zeifman as his source. But Zeifman's reported claim is undermined by his own previous reported acknowledgement that he -- Zeifman -- did not fire Clinton and did not have the power to do so. Limbaugh also touted other unsubstantiated claims by Zeifman about Clinton's work on the Watergate committee."
http://mediamatters.org/items/200804040011?f=s_search

Oh .... and Zeifman? Hahahahaha .... a notorious Clinton hater who's book was panned:

"[The book] will surely excite conspiracy buffs on the lookout for sinister coverups in high places. But those wary of such unsubstantiated theories (myself included) will find Zeifman's book an unconvincing, if imaginative, tale of intrigue…The lack of evidence makes this theory hard to swallow. Zeifman's most reliable source -- his diary -- contains few revelations and seems little more than a chronicle of his suspicions and speculations." [Washington Post 2/18/96]

Oh .... and bottom third of her law school class? Says who? She was an editor of the law review! Even if she had graduated in the bottom third of her class, do you know how many lawyers would be happy to graduate in the bottom third of the class at YALE LAW SCHOOL? Hahahahahah!

Some morons actually believe this stuff.

Hillary

Here it is about a day since Obama clinched the nomination. She has still not offered congratulations to Obama. This behavior reinforces my belief that she can not be too close to Obama, certainly not VP, because she can not accept being second fiddle. Apparently she and Bill will never let go of the desire to be top banana. Offer her Secretary of Health, a post she has some experience for, but definitely not VP. I favor John Edwards for the VP post. Much more progressive than Hillary and much less strident and devisive. Now lets push on to the ouster of the Neocan cancer in November!

As an ardent supporter of...

John Edwards (Obama is a far second choice for me) I would like to disagree with you about chosing JRE as VP, given his experience and passion the office of Attorney General would be a better place. As for Veep, I leave the choice up to Obama --- Anyone other than Hil-o-reeeeeee. Bumpa

What do Hillary's Supporters Want

I do not want Hillary to be VP. I also don't think she should campaign for Obama. Everything that she and her husband have said has been interpreted as racist and I don't see how they can, and I don't think that they should, help now. I think she should return to the Senate and continue to do the work that she's done. If John McCain can run again after his loss in the primaries 8 years ago, so can she!!! I couldn't help notice that for all the celebratory comments about the historic nature of Obama's presumed nomination, there was very little talk about his positions on the issues. Maybe as Clinton supporters we can still be convinced.

depending on how you count,

I did not know that the "New Math" or the "No Child Left Behind" taught us to count any differently than what we learned at our mother's knees and in school. Start at one and add each item to be counted together (not leaving any out because you don't like them or because you can only win, in your mind, if you only count certain ones).

I am saddened that some of us Democrats can not do what is right for the country and the world. That we want so much for a women President, that we are willing, (actually to vote for a third Bush term by either voting for McCain or staying home)to let our lesser self act like a child. If my team does not have who I think should be on it, I will go home and not play. Damn the Constitution and Bill of Rights and the economy, the Supreme Court and every good thing about this country.

Grow up and act like a Democratic American. Think and act like you care about the important things in America.

Yes, it would be wonderful to have a women President and I will probably not live long enough to see that happen, but I can act to make my America better and know that my daughter will see that happen, if we don't give away our country for good, by letting McCain win!

I did not like Kerry last time, but I voted for him. How much better would this country and the world have been if the last two elections, ANY Democrat had been sworn in as President?

If your point is to ...

... actually convince HC supporters that they have to vote for Obama, you probably want to avoid the idiotic claim that they're supporting her because they want a woman to be President - (guess people who support Obama only do so because he's African-American, right?). Secondly, you probably want to leave the argument to someone else. Someone who hasn't spent the last few months on anti-Hillary rants (she's become a "joke", "more conservative than McCain (hah!), "Hillary as the anti-Christ", "an insane, power hungry person" at the "loony farm", etc.). Someone like you just has no credibility with any HC supporters.

On the other hand, if you just feel the need to further insult HC and her supporters, regardless of the fact that it is precisely these kinds of rants that drive them away from voting for Obama, well ..........................

.............. keep up the great work.

Of course, someone might tell you ...... How was it you phrased it? Oh yeah ....

"Grow up and act like a Democratic American. Think and act like you care about the important things in America."

Did you listen?

Mrs. Bill Clinton repeatedly referred to "women", in many different ways, last night./She said that she was campaigning for womens' votes. She pandered to women in PA by campaigning with her mother and daughter. Apparently, once you decided to support her you stopped paying attention.

I'd listen ...

... if you made any sense, Bettysdad, but you don't. What is your point?

Hey - Still looking for your promised condemnation of Obama for his campaign tour with Donnie McClurkin. I must have missed it.

Yeah, but not reading

My post was a reply to the post above mine claiming Mrs. Bill Clinton did not make her gender an issue. And no, you didn't miss my promised condemnation of McClurkin. I never made one idiot.

Apparently Bettysdad can't read

Where in the post does it say "Mrs. Bill Clinton did not make gender an issue"? Is English your second language? What I said was "you probably want to avoid the idiotic claim that they're supporting her because they want a woman to be President." All of the candidates want the women's vote. They're the majority of voters. But HC's supporters are supporting her for a number of reasons, not just because she's a woman. Are you only supporting Obama because he's AA?

Wow ...... for a "professional" writer, Bettysdad, you'd think you'd have basic reading comprehension skills. Hey, are you one of the guys that writes the stuff on the back of the cereal boxes?

Oh - and your promised condemnation of Obama .............. guess you were just lying about that .........

...............again.

Did you listen?

Everyone will be listening when "Peter Paul vs Hillary Clinton" case comes up for trial. What excuse will be made up to justify her actions then.

What are you smoking?

Peter Paul? The four time convicted felon and conspiracy nut? Hahahahahahaha.

Paul's case against Hillary was dismissed on motion and he was even forced to pay her attorney fees (i.e. rarely happens except in cases with absolutely no merit). His "looting" case (not election fraud, as you claimed earlier) against Bill Clinton continues, but it's bogus.

If anyone wants the facts
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/crooked_claims_about_clinton.html

Omigod!

The idea you would use FactCheck to back yourself up is laughable. They are so much in Mrs. Bill Clinton's camp no serious person bothers with them. Jamieson goes on Moyers and just lies through her teeth.

It's all over the web ...

... on all kinds of sites, including major newspapers - Factcheck was just the easiest summary. How about the AP/San Diego Union Tribune:

October 16, 2007

LOS ANGELES – An appellate court on Tuesday denied a motion to reinstate Sen. Hillary Clinton as a defendant in a lawsuit that claims she, former President Clinton and others induced a former supporter to finance a 2000 fundraising gala.
The 2nd District Court of Appeal upheld a lower court's decision to remove the New York senator and Democratic presidential candidate from a lawsuit filed by Peter Paul. The three-judge panel also said Clinton can recoup legal costs. ...

Superior Court Judge Aurelio Munoz dismissed Hillary Clinton from Paul's lawsuit in April 2006, citing a California statute aimed at reducing frivolous lawsuits ...

The appellate panel called Paul's argument “fatally flawed,” and noted a FEC audit found that neither Clinton nor her Senate campaign accepted any illegal funds in connection with the Hollywood fundraiser.

In fact, the record as presented to us strongly suggests Senator Clinton's and Clinton for Senate's conduct was perfectly legal,” the appellate court wrote in its decision."

Would you like a dozen more citations? It's fun demonstrating what an idiot bettysdad is!

Already educated ..

See my post above. Anyone can file a lawsuit ... it means nothing. Peter Paul is a four-time convicted felon (drug dealer, securities fraud) and conspiracy nut.

"Paul alleged that Clinton was deceitful in this,[33] and retained public interest law firm, and frequent Clinton opponent, Judicial Watch to represent him in a series of civil and criminal lawsuits against the Clintons, the Clinton campaign, and ultimately the Federal Election Commission (which he charged was negligent in failing to convict Mrs. Clinton).[34][35][36][37] These charges were delayed, as courts held that Paul could not bring charges against the Clintons as he fought extradition from Brazil,[38] but proceeded once he was returned to the States.[39]

Paul's claims have not found traction. An audit by the Federal Elections Commission found that neither Senator Clinton nor her Senate campaign had accepted any illegal funds in connection with the Hollywood fundraiser[40], though the campaign was asked to pay $35,000 in fines for having underreported the cost of the party.[41] Paul's suit against the FEC was thrown out; his attempt to bring ethics charges against Clinton were rejected,[42] and his fraud charges against Senator Clinton were tossed out in April 2006.[43] Paul continued to press civil charges against Senator Clinton and former President Clinton for "looting"[44] his business, but the courts refused to allow him to sue Senator Clinton, with the appellate court specifying that her behavior had been "perfectly legal," and allowing her to recoup her legal fees from Paul.[40]

Finding no luck in the courts, in 2007 Paul sponsored and promoted a thirteen and a half minute video titled "Hillary Exposed: The Case of Paul v. Clinton," attacking Senator Clinton. Her office responded "Peter Paul is a professional liar who has four separate criminal convictions, two for fraud. His video repackages a series of seven-year-old false claims about Senator Clinton that have already been rejected by the California state courts, the Justice Department, the Federal Election Commission, and the Senate Ethics Committee."[45] In January 2008, he also re-filed his complaint with the FEC.[46]"

We want fair media, for one thing...but the V.P. spot will do

I perceive myself as on some other planet these days...I can't believe that I've actually been watching Fox News, because they're less biased against Hillary. CNN is ok, but MSNBC has been absolutely horrible (I used to be a fan, don't think I can ever watch them again because they now have 0 credibility). I won't be strongly in support of Obama unless Hillary is asked to be the V.P. I'll still vote for him if he doesn't, but I'll hate it. I just don't see what the big deal is, because I don't see Obama as African-American. He's mixed race with some genes from Africa. His African father did not become a permanent resident or citizen; he was only here for an education. Thus Obama has NO roots anywhere in the legacy of slavery or serious institutional racism at all; indeed his roots assume that America is a place of advantages. Why is everyone so excited about the end of purely genetic racism based on someone having even a drop of black blood? Didn't that kind of thing pretty much end a long time ago? RACISM TODAY IS CULTURAL, NOT GENETIC. Very few people are afraid of a few genes. They are afraid of very low class poor culture, especially as expressed in the American black community. I'm not going to get excited about electing a black President until we nominate someone who is really from da 'hood. Well...there's Michelle. Yes, let's get clear here: there are very, very few differences genetically between men with all white genes raised by American whites and a man with half black genes from Africa. Of course, Obama's mixture of races was followed by being raised by American whites in Hawaii and Indonesia and winding up at Columbia, Harvard and Hyde Park (U of Chicago). So he isn't even much different from an elite white guy!!! Women, however, are VERY different from men. Hillary (or Michelle or any other woman) would have been REAL CHANGE. I just don't see another woman out there who could take it and dish it out like she did.

Please..

list all the lies about Mrs. Bill Clinton broadcast by CNN and MSNBC. You people think news you don't like is either biased or false.

CNN = "THE CLINTON NEWS NETWORK"

The only LIES CNN broadcast about her were the good ones, lies which exaggerated her performance! As for MSNBC, I must give you that one. They do tend to be truthful!!!

WTF?

The "change" Obama stands for isn't about the friggin color of his skin, it's about changing the direction of this country. To argue that Hillary would actually represent "more" change because she's a woman is ludicrous on its face as well as a logical fallacy. To me she is simply Republican-Lite, just another D.C. pol beholden to corporate interests. Why do you think Fox News is more favorable to Hillary? One, they (Repub's) would much rather have faced her than Obama in November, and two, if she were to beat McCain, they'd much rather have her as President. Fox News! Get a hold of yourself! Hillary has no-one to blame but herself for losing this nomination- just look at her disaster of a campaign, the Bosnia lies, Mark Penn and Colombia, Bill losing his marbles, the negativity, the hypocrisy- I had a ton of respect for her before the campaign, and would have GLADLY voted for her for President once it was clear Edwards would not be the nominee... and then it became clear to me that she would say and do ANYTHING to win, no matter the cost to the Democratic party. At least you say you'll vote for Obama in the Fall- and that's the ONLY redeeming statement in your post. And just for the record, I'm a feminist by definition- I wish there were more female legislators, we need a little less testosterone on Capitol Hill- and I would love to see a female president, whatever her race. It's like you begrudge Obama the color of his skin AND his gender. Sexist AND racist! Congratulations! I can't believe you're a democrat, to be honest- you make no sense whatsoever, prefer Fox news because it favors Hillary, and call Obama an elitist. No, you're not on another planet, you're living in another dimension. Good luck with that.

Party of open and honest debate?

I thought that the party of lock step where people were cut off if they disagreed and the messenger was shot was the other party. If you really believe that Hillary got fair treatment you need to take the blinders off and I am not and never have been a Hillary supporter. The question is then, is there anyplace left for those of us Democrats who believe(apparently wrongly) that we were above that sort of thing? Sexism is still alive and well in this country and if we cannot even debate that, then I fear for the future of women in this country. J Ludwick

Please...

list all the sexism promulgated by the Obama campaign. Take your time. We'll wait.

NEW doesn't mean successful at CHANGE

Ok, so there's the real beef. We have a guy who gives great speeches about change. Yawn. What kind of ego thinks that he and he alone can change America just because he gives great speeches. It's the American Idol culture...soon he'll be as boring as most of the idols. Hillary lost, but she wasn't a failure...it was very close and she was winning in the end. No she would not say and do anything...how do you know that she never held her tongue? YOU HILLARY HATERS ARE WHAT IS DRIVING US OUT. STOP AND BE LIKE BARACK...SHOW HER A BIT OF RESPECT.

Clinton for Senate Majority Leader

Obama should meet with Harry Reid and see if he'd be willing to step aside in January to let Hillary Clinton become the new Majority Leader in the Senate. This move would give Hillary another entry in the history books, as the first female U.S. Senate Majority Leader, and presents a powerful all-female team in Congressional leadership with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (unless Cindy Sheehan manages to defeat her in November).

Obama can boost Hillary's ego with this offer: he can say he needs her continued leadership in the Senate, he needs her ability to work out compromises across party lines, he needs her help to pass legislation, etc. This would also give Hillary an incentive to go out and campaign for Democratic Senate candidates, since she needs to maintain and/or enlarge her party's majority in order to get this new position.

This makes much more sense than the VP slot. Their styles are just too different to make a unified ticket, and the cynicism of that choice undercuts Obama's entire message of "change" and a "new type of politics".

Besides, if Hillary were VP, some of her supporters would spend the next 8 years hoping something happens to President Obama...!

I don't think so.

To become Senate Majority Leader one has to have the overwhelming respect off one's peers. She was never a major force, and whatever there was is all gone now. I'd be surprised of anyone will speak to her.

"YOU'D be surprised"!!!

Really?!?! Wow!!!!

You'd be surprised if the sky was blue.

The Ticket

Obama claims to be a uniter, not a divider (sounds familiar). But if he can't unite his own party, how is he going to 1) win the general election? and 2) unite the country at large? While he won the nomination, he did so w/ a razor thin majority of delegates, the same or less popular vote, depending on how you count, and since March 4, having lost the majority of states, large states, and popular votes. I'm not sure if any candidate in history has won by losing the last three months of the primaries. And it seems the only way he can avoid limping into the general election and ensure victory, unite the party, do the fair and proper thing, and prove that he is not so selfish that he is willing to risk defeat because of it, is to make a deal w/ Clinton to include her on the ticket as VP. It's one thing to win a normal primary by a significant margin and choose another VP. But this was no normal primary. Like it or not, Hillary has almost the exact number of popular vote and supporters by any standard. In a parliamentary system, there would almost certainly be a unity ticket of some kind. Obama should do the same. He talks about being a unifier? Great, one way to put your money where your mouth is is to recognize Clinton's supporters and put her on the ticket. Many of the Clinton supporters feel either bitter or disrespected by the Obama camp and their hostile supporters (claiming both hatred for Hillary and yet "hope" and "change" for a new future), and are just as loyal to their candidate as Obama supporters. Certainly, Obama will get many of them in November, but will he get enough of them? And if he doesn't get enough of them, or 15-20% defect to McCain or just opt not to vote, there's an excellent chance democrats are going to lose in November. Every poll of an Obama/Clinton ticket points to almost certain victory for democrats. Every poll without Clinton is either slightly ahead of McCain or slightly behind in the popular vote, but a less sure picture of the electoral map: All but certain defeat in Florida, Michigan and Ohio up for grabs, and uncomfortably narrow victories in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Remember all the accusations that Clinton was staying in the race because she was "selfish" or that she was hurting the party? Well, imagine if Obama would have lost Kentucky and West Virginia even after she left. That would have been almost disastrous politically. So she did him a favor in some ways. But ultimately, not including Clinton as his VP, Obama will prove that he requires no lessons on how to be selfish and reckless with regard to the future of the Demorcatic party at the expense of his ego. We shall see.

What Do Hillary Supporters Want?

As a fulltime Hillary supporter (after John Edwards left the race) I can only tell you what I want. I want the Hillary-hate to STOP RIGHT NOW. Obama WON. It's OVER. All you Gen X & Yers can breathe a sigh of relief. The female Boomer will NOT be your President. What she deserves is RESPECT for the work she has done for decades for progressive causes and to advance the state of women in general. There have been many thoughtful and creative ideas on where Hillary could best be utilized in an Obama Administration, but my favorite idea has not yet been put forward. Even though it won't necessarily give immediate help to Obama's campaign in bringing Hillary supporters quickly to his side, the one thing he COULD do that would change history, and give Hillary the chance to REALLY make a difference would be to announce in advance that at the first opportunity he will PUT HILLARY ON THE SUPREME COURT! Can you imagine the cardiac events all over the country afflicting neocons and paleocons alike? With a lifetime tenure on the Supreme Court, Hillary might well have more important impact on all of our lives than if she had won TWO terms as President! Just an idea. I'll be happily pulling a straight Democratic ticket in November. I just hope Obama does right by Hillary. ----duckfubya: Lost in the Pines of Nacogdoches, TX

About that respect.

Let's also respect Mrs. Bill Clinton for the tireless work she did for Wal-Mart, Monsanto, and Tyson, three of the most despicable corporations on earth. She doesn't even mention this work on her website biography. What would you say about someone who spent years doing something and won't talk about it?

Betty'sdad Needs a Chill Pill

What part of "Stop the Hillary-Hate" did you NOT understand, bettysdad? If there's anything that annoys me worse, it's a sore WINNER. Your guy WON! Party DOWN! Clinton's DEFEATED! What do you WANT? BLOOD? Jeez. --duckfubya

Don't give him THAT option ....

He'd take you up on it. Bettysdad HAAAAAAAATES her.

Reality

Hillary should accept the reality of the situation and offer the nominee the recognition he is due rather than continuing on the path that can only be detrimental to the Dem Party. She should encourage her supporters to support Mr. Obama. Mr. Obama was highly respectful of Ms. Clinton in last night's speech, only to receive a cold, uncongratulatory offering of a seemingly -I am not yet done with this race. Sometimes shooting oneself in the foot is difficult to admit. (Bosnia sniper fire, pregnant Ohio girl, skewed statistics)

For a good perspective

from someone who has been a diehard Clinton supporter, see this post.

A DIE-HARD REALIST

Hillary showed a perversely selfishness side in her speech last night and subtlely kept the racist pot percolating among the ranks of her supporters. Her Obama comments were cold, calculated & diminishing of him. In sum, she did no good for the Democratic Party, her future or her supporters. She widened the gap between her and Obama hurting the Party. Moreover, as the Clinton campaign moved into May, its (and her) racist underbelly (indeed, AMERICA'S) revealed itself in high relief. The harder Obama fought to diminish the import of race in the campaign, the harder her campaign sought to shred the scab covering it. Too, questions about her veracity made her increasingly 'unattractive'. The ranks of the Democratic Party are filled with those who can't wait for 11/8/08 to say: 'I TOLD you that Black man (qua 'N-Word') couldn't win!' For, RACISM is just below the surface in our electoral system and has every chance - once again - of destroying the chances of the DEMOCRATIC PARTY to achieve a resounding success this fall. Thanks, Billy & Hillary for ROUSING THE SLEEPING DOGS!

So by extension, almost 50%

So by extension, almost 50% of Clinton supporters are racist. And what the f--- are you talking about is racist last night you crack pot? Good luck winning the presidency by losing a large percentage of Clinton supporters because of continued hostility and false accusations of racism. Obama brought race into this campaign well before Clinton. All the surrogates pounced on every trace of race after the defeat in N. Hampshire leading into S. Carolina, led by Donna Brazile. I think it was a good strategy, but let's see it for what it was. And get your head out of your cult father's ass and wake up.

please elaborate

Could you please give examples of when and how Obama "brought race into this campaign well before Clinton" and how his supporters "pounced on every trace of race"? I feel like I've missed something here.Thanks.

For Your Consideration

Uh...

The New Republic is just this side of the right-wing lunatic fringe. Wilentz is a Mrs. Bill Clinton partisan, so the article is meaningless.

Yeah Right...

Here's the statement of principals issued and published by what you apparently believe is an organ of the "right-wing lunatic fringe" This statement was published by TNR on June 23, 2006 as it's stance on the issues:

"The New Republic is very much against the Bush tax programs, against Bush Social Security 'reform,' against cutting the inheritance tax, for radical health care changes, passionate about Gore-type environmentalism, for a woman's entitlement to an abortion, for gay marriage, for an increase in the minimum wage, for pursuing aggressively alternatives to our present reliance on oil and our present tax preferences for gas-guzzling automobiles. We were against the confirmation of Justice Alito."

Yeah, sounds real "right-wing lunatic" to me... In your dreams...

and, yes, Sean Wilentz was a Clinton supporter, but he is also a respected historian and journalist, so there might just be something to what he is saying...

For your consideration

Realist? Puhh-leeeezzz

"Racist! Racist! Racist!" .......... yawwwwwwwn.

Reality .... from someone who believes conspiracy theories about the the Trilateral Commission and Council on Foreign Relations.

Required Reading for Democrats

Hillary Rosen's commentary on HuffPost this morning should be required reading for all Democrats - regardless of who they supported in the primary. Thanks, darlenem for posting the link. I've sent the column, by e-mail, to some of my fellow Democrats, who are at state convention in Austin, Texas. We should all read it, and heed her words.
