Who Can Save the Democrats? Hillary's Core of Women Supporters, Writes Peggy Noonan

BE ELECTED
by Christine Bowman

Peggy Noonan, Wall Street Journal columnist, former speechwriter to Ronald Reagan, and author of The Case Against Hillary Clinton (2000) had this to say today:

White women have been Mrs. Clinton's most reliable base of support and readiest crutch, the superdelegate said. And maybe they're the only ones who can break through, both to Mrs. Clinton and to the country ...

The question "Who will tell her, who can make her go?" is really the question "Who will save the Democratic Party in 2008?" It cannot be doubted at this point that real damage is being done to its standard-bearer and to all those who will be on the ticket with him.

Maybe the superdelegate is right, and maybe saving the party this year will be women's work. ...

Damsel of Distress

Helping Democrats probably isn't Noonan's top priority, but she is nevertheless a seasoned DC observer and political analyst. She may be onto something here.

Who has the ability to change this campaign's dynamic? Who can influence Hillary Clinton now? And who can start the party's healing?

Dianne Feinstein? Barbara Boxer? Kim Gandy? Ellen R. Malcolm? Elizabeth Edwards? Gloria Steinem? Uncommitted superdelegates such as Mary Landrieu?

Give us your thoughts. What can/should happen now among Democrats and whose move is it?

Not To Concern Ourselves No More With Hillary & Bill Clinton

"Why not?" "They're history." "What should we be concerned about?" "Our electing a president who'll end the Iraq War, negotiate with Iran plus turning things around here at home." "And then what sort of world?" "It'll be up to us."

Tell Me When You Come Back Through The Looking Glass

I have been writing about how the RNC has been using the tactics of 1972 to divide and conquer the Democratic Party since last fall. Today, Buzzflash has proved me correct. Peggy Noonan, quoted as a voice of reason at Buzzflash. Now up is down and down is up, and the red queen is off her head. Peggy Noonan is an official agent provocateur for the RNC. Peggy Noonan will tell you whatever Hillary is a Bitch lie you want to hear. She has been doing it for years and years. Fight Ignorance? Ok, I will log off this site, tout de suite!

this is a joke

Is this a joke? and are you seriously telling Democrats to take advice from that Shrill but you do everything to Slander the Clintons and you channel PEGGY NOONAN? WOW sorry but this is wrong no matter how much you dislike the Clintons.

There's only one

The only person Mrs. Bill Clinton will listen to is Mr. Bill Clinton. He is the only person that puts her interests above the Democratic Party or the United States. They will not go away until they are too old.

Please, Please, Please..!

I hope someone will bring up - here at Buzzflash or elsewhere - that what doomed Al Gore in 2000 (yes, he did win the popular vote, AND the electoral vote, had George Bush's brother Jeb Bush not stolen the votes of thousands of Florida voters, and tossed them in the trash can) was... his selection of Joe Lieberman to be his running mate.

HAD Al Gore followed the lead of... BILL CLINTON in 1992! - and selected a seasoned campaigning SOUTHERN WHITE MALE to balance off his ticket, he would have won election 2000 in a walk.

OK, having said that, I will confess that I had hoped John Edwards would carry the torch in 2008, while it is now patently clear that Senator Obama is a vastly better candidate and campaigner than Senator Edwards will ever be. (And no, despite my above "Southern White Male for Dem VP nominee" paragraph, I don't think Edwards is that VP material in '08. He couldn't deliver his own state, North Carolina, in 2004, and he couldn't even have won re-election to senate in NC in 2004, with such a thin legislative resume at a time when NC was bleeding jobs in furniture and textile industries, 3 or 4 full years before the Bush recession hit home to the rest of America. And lately he couldn't get off the fence, even as Hillary and her campaign went more divisive, dismissive, and egregious by the day. Not exactly "command executive" material there, Sen. Edwards.)

AS to "Women of the Democratic Party", if they want to support Hillary running around saying that the millions of WHITE VOTERS who HAVE VOTED for Senator Obama DON'T COUNT... well, we can all pull up our chairs and watch Joe Lieberman deliver the keynote speech at the Republican 2008 convention.

Please, Please, Please..! Follow-Up!!

VVVC1: You left me hanging: you never did follow-up on the Lieberman thing. HOW did the selection of Lieberman impact the outcome? Was his treacherous ways known then? Was it because he's Jewish? Did his ideals clash with Gores---even then? Did he force himself onto that ticket?

Naive

I was one of the naive ones who believed if it became obvious (like it did on Wed.) that Hillary couldn't win that she would do the honourable thing and step aside expeditiously. She still could do this, but her campaign is not signalling this in any sense. She deserves some high level appointment like the Supreme court justice idea floated on buzzflash. I believe her campaign debts could be paid off by the Obama camp because it will be cheaper than running 6 more primary campaigns. Honestly I would give her anything she wants so she will start campaigning aggressively for the Dems instead of John McCain. Bring her in at any cost.

Party Unity

Clinton can concede and lead her followers to Obama, or she can fight on desparately, as she has for the last month. She had some chips to bargain with a month ago, but the "Hail Mary passes" like "sniper fire" and "obliterate Iran" have cost her. Now she's resorting to overt racism and who knows what next? Let the primaries play out, and her core support will eventually become disgusted and move to Obama. And he won't have to pay off her campaign debts.

Hillary Clinton

dalandis The Clintons are both republican-lite and have been at least one of the main reasons for the Democrats problems, what with their "moderate" political stance, their "advisers",the DLC which is now known as the Democrats Losers Council. I fully expect her to do a "Lieberman".

Napolitano and Sebelius

Even though they are Obama supporters and possible VP picks, they could help get the healing started. They are the next generation. Jennifer Granholm of Michigan is another good choice.
